  • Quitting Maintance

After reaching your goal, is it possible to quit maintenance? I'm Indian, and it's really hard to eat meats and stuff all the time. Will you gain back all your weight, even if you exercise and keep your calories in control? Or will you only gain just a little weight back, say 5 poundsish

    Re: Quitting Maintance

You asked this question in main and are getting all the good answers there.

I think this will depend on so many factors - like are you very over weight, have you developed insulin residence.
Are you sensitive to carbs - so when you eat something carby you will go into a hunger spell and eat and eat - so that you get fat but still feel hungry. Many of us people who got to be obese have this condition - because we are eating the wrong stuff we are basically starving while getting fatter.

I suggest choosing a way to lose weight that is close to what you want to do when you maintain. If you do not want to eat a lot of meat ever - well then don't as you lose weight either. Find something that work. What protein do you want to eat?
And remember that Atkins is a programme where you gradually introduce more carby stuff - so that it may be possible for you to do a transition slowly so that you can find something that works for you.

It doesn't work that way, unfortunately.

I went off maintenance for a month...gained back 7 lbs. I was at 129 at my lowest point, I am at 137 lbs right now, and my pants are too tight. I am getting it under control NOW while it isn't a nightmare. But yeah, atkins is for life. If you go back to what you were doing before, you will gain it all back.
