Ok, I'm having reat success with Atkins and I've read the book straight through a couple of times and individual chapters several times. I know I have low resistance and that this is a good thing as I look ahead nto OWL and the maintenance stages.
But somehow, I made the mistake - I hope - of forgetting that when Atkins refers to recommended or safe carb levels, it means NET carbs, right? For example, when foods are listed in the Power of Five or Ten lists, 5 and 10 refer to NET carbs. So someone fortunate enough to have a daily carb limit 0f, say, 80 carbs, again that refers to NET carbs, not total carbs.
80 total carbs depresses me a little, but 80 net carbs, given that I tend to choose high fibre foods, is great - more than I would likely need.
So, please tell me I'm stupid and that yes, it's NET carbs. And if people wouldn't mind, could you share what your total carb intake is during maintenance?
Two other questions for the more experienced amoing you.
Once you hit maintenance (and also as you move through OWL) about how many grams of fat and protein are you taking in? I love meat and I'm eating a lot of it on induction - and adore certain fats - cheese, butter, olive oil) but at some point as you introduce more carbs, surely you have to reconsider the fat/protein totals?
After some hesitation, I'm pretty sure I'm going to head into OWL and then into maintenance, but answers to these questions (including "Am I stupid?) will really help.
Cheers!
Still Happy in Canada!
