  • keeping a journal

I think that keeping a journal during this time is equally as important as when beginning this WOEFL. The reason I say this is because this will help determine your carb maintainance level. ( end of a school day and my brain is dead so the term is illuding me at the moment as to what this is called, and I don't have the book with me so here's hoping you get what I mean.)
Also if we make notes on reactions such as you had with the oranges, that can help us remember those trigger foods and stay away from them. If for some reason a few pounds start coming back, it is easy to look at the food you've eaten and see where you might have slipped or need to drop back some.
Just some thoughts, and having said that I need to get myself in gear because I have not been as diligent in my journaling of late as I should be.

    Hi,
I haven't quite reached my goal yet, but I know keeping a journal really helps me. Anything...every little bite.... goes into a little notebook. At the bottom of each page I also keep track of exercise, and also a few notes on anything of note from that day. It really helps me see why I'm succeeding , or stalling.

I would be very interested in seeing public journals and read how others are following the diet and this phase.

        journal

I just made up a simple excel file showing:

Date B/fast Lunch Dinner snack glucose test time

and every day or every other day I updated it. I put the time I ate, how much and what sugar level was. If you want I can e-mail you the file I created.

I have kept a food journal since day one. I had thought about ditching it when I got to goal, but I decided to keep up with it. It is very interesting to see the changes in my daily food intake.

I use Fitday and found that it really helps me keep track of what and how much I'm eating. I noticed that the weeks I "didn't" regularily use the journal, I found my weight either: didn't budge, went up a pound or two, or I felt really "blah". I think journals help out alot in sticking to your goal.

Well, since I am the one who started this thread, I thought I should come here and confess. I have not been doing a good job of keeping my journal. I do believe it is important, and for the reasons I stated at the beginning of this thread. Well today I am changing that. I have started my journal here on the board under the journals forum. It is titled Legendkeeper (Betty) has a journal. I thought since I am on the board so much, maybe doing here was the way to go, and it is public, so I know people will let me know if I don't set the example by walking the walk and not just talking the talk. Today was my first entry and I just gave an overview of my journey from the beginning.
              well that is my confession.
see you on the jouranl forum.
I tried fitday, and I know many like it, but man it was a pain for me to use,and I gave up. that is just me. I think it is a wonderful tool for many.

                Betty,

I just wanted to let you know how much inspiration you are to me and I know hundreds of others on this bb. I read this thread about the journals and I couldn't agree more with how important they are. I am saying this b/c it has helped me with the Boot Camp. So, just a little thank you!
