  • Beans, Beans

    Hi to all :wave,
Ok Iam on the Legumes rung and so far the only beans that I have tried are chili beans and last night pinto beans, and soy flour, now here is my dilemma, the soy flour, was ok although it made go to the bathroom; chili beans made me gain and I ate one cup pinto beans which didn't make the scale move and if someone could tell me how much carbs are in one cup of pinto beans??? the reason I ask is because when I put in my food for fitday I try to go by the serving size which is hard because I can't put one cup in any suggestions please.

One cup of beans is a lot of carbs. Try http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/conversions.htm if you're having problems with the units of measure fitday is providing. It will help you compare your unit of measure with fitday. I've been using hummus which is under 'eat regularly' for legumes on the Atkins website. I'm having Soy Slender milk which is yummy and very nutritious. I have some soybeans for edemame but I haven't used them yet.

A 1/2 cup of pinto beans has about 21.5 net carbs.

During OWL you're only supposed to be eating 5 net carbs of a given OWL food. So for the pinto beans that's about 1/8 cup.

Don't worry about this little mess up. You don't have to go back to Induction. Just drop the pinto beans and use this as a learning experience.

By the way, what's your CCLL?

Soybeans have lots of fiber which makes the net carbs a good choice. Good for protein too. I think their glycemic index is quite low.

How many carbs are you eating per day? Are you still losing weight (pounds and/or inches)?

              Beans, Beans

Iam from 22 to 26 carbs, and I keep getting stuck at 215 to 216, but I think if I drop the smoked almonds and drink more water I could lose again and I know wish that I hadn't eaten those pinto beans because yesterday my stomach hurt like crazy it was cramping and sent me to the bathroom three times. Maybe the bean rung ain't for me?? :sadblinky

Nah, beans can have a laxative effect.

To figure out what is causing your weight stall, go back through your food diary and see what food (s) added coincided with the beginning of it.

yea I will do that but like I stated I mostly believe that it is the smoked almonds that I buy cause when I wake up in the morning I feel swollen so although it says 2 g carbs it packs a lot of salt.

Then drop the nuts for a week or two and see what happens with your weight loss. I can't eat highly salted nuts for almost the same reason--but then I can't eat some unsalted nuts either.
