  • For those of us that were discussing yogurt....

I lucked out and found Greek Style Plain yogurt at Trader Joe's. It is much lower carb than the regular plain yogurt that I compared it to.
    Per cup:
    260 cals
    20g fat
    8g carbs
I don't remember the exact number of carbs in the regular plain, but it seems like it might have been in the twenties. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it so if you'd tell me what you do I'd appreciate it. I believe I've had a cucumber/yogurt dip at a greek restaurant, but I want some more creative ideas.

I also wanted to mention that there was a skinny young guy who was stocking the yogurts when I was looking. So he was very helpful going through their different yogurts and comparing taste etc. One that he picked up was a low fat and I said "no, I'm not interested in the low fat ones" and he said "good, people are cutting too much fat from their diets and it just not healthy". So here's to the enlightened Trader Joe's employee!

Cucumber yogurt dip is easy to do: peel and seed some cucumbers, mix with the yogurt, add chopped mint or dill (but not both!), salt to taste.

You can put the yogurt in cheesecloth and suspend it in a colander overnight, the watery part will drain out and you'll be left with a yogurt cheese.

Roast cauliflower in the oven, then mix it with yogurt and some curry powder.

Lassi is an Indian yogurt drink: it's simply yogurt thinned with water and either drunk very cold or it's flavored with fruit.

And of course, you can make smoothies with the yogurt.

Thanks! I did just find a couple of smoothie recipes so I'm working on a strawberry smoothie right now.
