I live on the coast of Virginia and have noticed that many stores are no longer carrying Atkins and similiar low carb products. Is this perhaps a trend that is happening elsewhere. Even Walmart is no longer stocking the essential oils , Accel and the other Atkins products. Is this happening in other areas of the country?

Re: Atkins products
I rarely buy those products, but I do read their ingredients lists to stay current for this forum.Originally posted by flowercI live on the coast of Virginia and have noticed that many stores are no longer carrying Atkins and similiar low carb products. I'm seeing some products are no longer available in my area (southern part of Maryland). I figure it's due to the fact that the folks who mistakenly thought you had to eat low carb bars, shakes, etc. in order to do low carb/Atkins found they didn't lose the weight as promised and stopped buying them when they stopped low carb.~Megs~

I'm in Indiana and all the stores around here are reducing their prices to get rid of the Atkins and other low carb products. Even the Carb Countdown juice and milk is no longer being carried in a lot of stores.Martha

I'm not really concerned about the bars, shakes, etc., because I don't use them. But I do feel better about the diet when I take the suggested supplements, which are disapearing from the shelves. Also, One of my on line sources announced that Atkins was being discontinued. I hope It will continue to be availabe :help

All the Atkins products and low carb products in general are on sale at my local dollar store. They are selling the bars at 3 for 99 cents. I think the bars are very filling if you are hungry and on the run. But the bars all taste the same to me regardless of the different flavors.
I've been able to try a few things I would never buy for more money and I haven't come across a single product yet that tastes better or feels better than real unprocessed food.
The only thing I have tried that I really liked was flax cereal by by LowCarb Success. I bought them in 4 different flavors - butter pecan, vanilla almond, strawberry and cinnamon. 2 carbs per 1/2 a cup. I'll have that once in a while for breakfast if I'm dealing with constipation.
I guess the low carb phase that caught on for awhile is over. I suppose thats a good thing if you believe in eating unprocessed food and you don't want to waste your money. It might be a bad thing if you want the world to support your low carb lifestyle.

The disappearance of the labeled supplements are not that big of a deal. You can compare labels with other supplements and find things that work there too. I now use my husband's men's multivitamin. Last fall I bought a multivitamin by Centrum that was labeled as carb friendly, and it had iron in it, which is not recommended. It was the same as the regular brand, just on sale. Label reading is always key. (Unfortunately, I usually read them after I buy it

That's true. The other day I was accosted by a jar of South Beach labeled nuts.Originally posted by cajunthunderThe "in" diet right now is South Beach, so stores are responding by increasing those products and decreasing Atkins.~Megs~

Did ya'll notice on the Atkins site that they are having a big sale because they are doing away with a lot of items? Maybe they are closing but it says they are restocking with other brands of things and getting rid of a lot of their fresh items.

Hey, I also am from the coast of Virginia (live in Chesapeake and work in Norfolk). Yeah I have noticed everyone stopped carring Atkins - including the health food store where I bought my syrups. First they stopped carrying Davinchi and now they no longer carry Atkins syrups. I now have to make my rasberry flax muffins with vanilla - at least Walmart is still carrying that. :no259/182/159

Low carb hasn't really picked up a massive amount in the UK, there is a small section for low carb food in my local supermarket. I don't usually buy anything from there I just make my own stuff. But the section is only about a meter across and there isn't a vast range of stuff.

I had heard that they were redoing all of their packaging because they re-tested the net carbs using the new measurements Atkins announced either late last year or early this year. Some things will have higher net carbs and some will have lower net carbs than previously indicated. Of course, they still may be discontinuing low-selling products as businesses tend to do.Originally posted by punkin50Did ya'll notice on the Atkins site that they are having a big sale because they are doing away with a lot of items?
