  • Fat versus Carbs

I have come to the conclusion that I'm not really a carboholic, but that I'm a fataholic. I love cream and butter - A LOT! Problem is, I've increased my carbs because I've had trouble making it through my workouts with my trainer. Not huge amounts at once mind ya - I'm not carb loading or anything.

So here I've increased my net carbs to the 30-40 gram range, but my fat percentages for each day aren't really going down, and that all adds up to lower protein percentages each day. ensive

Blueberries are in season here and I LOVE blueberries. Problem is, I LOVE them with heavy cream. If I cut some of the fat out of my daily nutrition, then my calories fall well below my BMR. I know you sort of even out over time, eating more some days and less on others, but without the fat, I'll consistently eat below my BMR because I just don't have much appetite.

All of this combined with trying to figure out what works best for me nutrition-wise, on the days I work out with my trainer. I really feel like a walking science experiment, and I'm the mad scientist who isn't only mad, but seriously confused! :confused

Thanks for letting me vent... :raving

Hey Monica, I wouldn't worry about your fats not going down. Apparently in Maintenance, they eat something like 50% fats, 30% protein anyway. If eating fats works for you, isn't that what OWL is about? Finding a WOE that works for you through experimentation and if your % are right now, and by the sounds of it you are eating the right foods, then why not?

Read the sticky above about the fat percentages on OWL.
Your fat percent doesn't have to go down dramatically, but fat is high calorie and if you overdo the fat, you might not lose weight because you're simply eating more calories than what your body can use.
