    Energy

    Hey guys.

I am currently in a summer camp for basketball and our first day was today. Well..I got really tired. I was wondering if there was any snack that I could have that could give me enough energy to last the 2 hours of basketball. I'm currently on the berry rung with 30g of carbs a day. I already tried eating berries before I left and it didn't seem to do anything. Should I just eat a banana or something and save myself the trouble, or will it make me stall. Also, I currently can't eat anything made from animal products except for fish. Thanks guys.

I would think that a banana is the wrong kind of energy source. We are I think going back to carbs as an energy source. I would look at increasing your fat and protein intake. If you cannot eat animal products eat more oily fish like mackerel or kippers. Use butter and double cream to make a sauce for your less oily fish! I personally might be tempted to take a protein supplement that is low in carbs, something like that used by body builders. This could be a controversial point so do your research. Maybe a post in the fitness thread might get you a better response.

I run and i find that i have more than enough energy if i keep my %'s in line. colins right, i'd stick with making sure you're getting in your fats...

Stay away from bananas though...they have a really hi GI value.
