So I still haven't moved on. Still kinda scared about it all. My biggest concern now is how to monitor to see if foods are stalling me, effecting me, etc? Right now I've been in the middle of a semi-stall. Basically, I've been going up and down with the same 5 lbs for over a month. So if I do start with the rungs, how do I know if the foods are stalling me or negatively affecting my weightloss?

Re: Monitoring OWL
In Chapter 12 of DANDR 2002, there is the Blood Sugar Instability Test. It's a big questionnaire that I find very useful because alot of people think that "cravings" are the only sign of blood sugar instability.Originally posted by nikki_eSo I still haven't moved on. Make a couple of photocopies of that test. When you add a new food, wait, then go through the test to see if the food triggered something in you.

Great, thanks! I guess I need to brush up on my OWL chapters of the book before I decide to dive in.Originally Started May 29, 2003 and lost 96 pounds. Fell off the wagon and gained over 100 pounds back. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

yep and the easiest way to tell if it is the new food group or the new to you food is to remove it from your eatting for a week or 2 and see what happens. You need to go slow and test and retest everything which is why I call OWL the great Atkins food experiment lab.
you can be stalled by other factors in your life a new to you food, a whole food group, or even the new higher carb level so you basically test it out for a few weeks seeing if anything gives you trouble and if you get into trouble with a stall you can either drop your carb level back down 5 net carbs and keep the newest rung to see if it is the carbs or you can stay at the carb level and drop the newest to you food group and see if it is the group. SOme times it is a food inside the group like Not2late has some cheeses and some nuts she can't handle buit she can others. I never had any trouble with any rungs but I can't eat celery. Others have different nuts set them off.
Just test test and test and go slow. there is not a race up the ladder nor any great prize for getting to rung 9. I added lots of extra rungs of rung 1 to my OWL so I could have all the veggies I loved and skipped rung 5 completely.
