    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone on here has bread on phase 2 and what kind of brand? I can only find some bread that is "carb control" but it's also low in fiber which isn't tht great either.

Let me know your opinion. Thanks

      Re: Bread

I think it's Natures Own that makes a High Fiber bread that has 10 grams of carbs per slice, with 5 grams of fiber, so it comes out to 5 net grams of carb per slice. Their regular "low carb" type bread has the same net carbs, but only 2 grams of fiber, so I'd opt for the higher fiber bread myself. More fiber, same net carbs.

If you're into wraps/rollups, there are low carb versions by FlatOut, usually somewhere near your deli section. The Italian Herb variety has 8 or 9 net grams of carbs (15 gr fiber!). You can make pizzas with them too.

They're rather large, so you could always just eat half of one.

Just a reminder to check the actual ingredients of any lowcarb product to make sure you will not be eating from a higher OWL rung than you are on.
Lots of LC products have soy or wheat based ingredients.

It's actually pretty thin and would make a great pizza crust. I tried the low carb Italian Herb and it was yummy! But they are really big, so I would cut one in half and make a smaller rollup, and it was about 4 net grams of carbs.

I found them at Super Walmart right by the deli counter. They have all sorts of specialty breads there and I was waiting in line to get some meat/cheese and saw them.

Before I started this WOE I would get the flat out wraps at Super Walmart too! They make GREAT thin crust pizza. Just brush or spray the wrap with oil, let it crisp in the oven for maybe 5 minutes or so, and then add your toppings. They are really good!

                Re: Bread

Am planning on staying well clear of bread because that's one of my addictions as far as high carbs go.... I can really beast into it if I don't keep control on what I'm doing so I know it's not worth the risk. Other triggers for me include crisps (what the Americans call potato chips) and chips (french fries) which I usually only want if I've had alcohol so am doing my best to steer clear of that as well.

I was thrilled to add bread back into my overall diet, but that lasted about a week or two. I realized that, other than the occasional sandwich, I could live without it, so I stopped buying the low carb bread.

I'm not even going near a potato! I miss those more than anything and I know myself well enough to know I'd get in trouble with them.

                    Re: Bread

I eat bread a couple of times a week, but I make sure it's the whole grain kind. I've never been a big fan of bread anyways. I have been eating hamburgers without the bun for years.
As for potatoes, I have used the lower carb kind (sunlight, I think) to make french fries but that is only for a rare treat. I noticed that if you don't use the potatoes soon after purchase they spoil and stick up my pantry. YUCK!
What I really miss is rice (especially pilaf). I haven't allowed myself any since starting this WOL. I guess I'm afraid it will cause cravings.
Has any one experimented with rice yet?
