  • George Stella Cookbook

I got the cookbook by george stella, he talks about the stella way of eating, he still incorportes atkins way of eating in some ways but he says that he removes things like grapes in his woe, but I thought it was ok to have them once your on the fruit rung, or maybe it could be that it stalls him and this is the reason he removes them anyone else take a look at his book.

I haven't read his book. Frankly, I really don't read low carb cookbooks because I can find so many "low carb" recipes or low carb adaptable recipes in standard cookbooks. I recently borrowed Lidia's Family Table
by Lidia Bastinich and realized that many pasta recipes have sauces that are low carb. By subsituting the noodles for lower carb "noodles" like zucchini strips or spaghetti squash, I can have all the flavor of the "pasta" recipe but with lower carbs.

But in terms of removing foods from your diet---that's what great about the OWL and Pre-Maintenance Phases of Atkins. You learn about your bod's reaction to different foods, so you can tailor your diet to suit your body's needs. I avoid cantaloupe because it gives me severe cravings. Certain food combinations give me cravings too. So I avoid them or if I do eat them, I watch out for those cravings.
