Thanks for that article! I knew there was a reason my instincts said to stay away from the stuff.

Do more reading on Splenda before you take Mercola's word for gospel. Here's a link to another thread that makes for some interesting Splenda reading : http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=13855

I don't agree .. I find his articles to be quite insightful. But to each his own.

Just the thought of sweetening my foods with chlorine ...

As I said in a previous post on this same topic, I don't find his opinions/articles unfounded - they're not, but they're not unbiased by any stretch of the imagination either. When pulling information on topics on things such as splenda and effects on health, I want unbiased information without a product/book recommendation right behind it.

But fair enough- to each his own, for sure.

No kidding!!! There's some days I go back home to visit and it smells like I'm at the city pool!!!

By the way, bottled water won't get you out of the chlorine factor either. Or at least Publix bottled water won't. Its filtered Lakeland city water.....oh, by the way, "home" is right next door and we share some of the same water treatment plants.....

                  Just food (water?) for thought

And I personally don't like use Splenda (or any artificial sweetener, really) because of the lack of research, not because its "manipulated". I'm much more concerned why I found "genetically altered" tomatoes and sweet corn in my supermarket this morning.

You have to decide what you want to ingest ... I find that Splenda has an annoying taste & aftertaste. Blech. I can't stand the soft drinks sweetened with Splenda. I can taste the chemicals in it.
