    Hey guys.

I just have a quick question. Right now, I've gone through all of the rungs and my question is, what comes next? Do I just eat my carbs from induction, and for the rest of my daily carbs, eat whatever i want (provided it was on the rungs I went through) in any amount, as long as I stay under my limit? Or, should we still be eating in the 5 carb amounts?

Did you find your CCLL or did you do the Modified OWL by staying at Induction Level Carbs and going through the rungs?

If you found your CCLL, then you know how many carbs you can eat while still losing weight. Since you've been through the rungs, you know how the foods in them affect your body. You still eat them in 5 net carb amounts, in addition to your Induction foods.

For example, this morning for breakfast I had
    1 Wasa Fiber Rye Cracker
    1 soft boiled egg
    1/4 cup cottage cheese

For lunch I've planned a salad made from cucumbers, cauliflower, red peppers and marinated onion with some leftover grilled chicken breast

For dinner I've planned lamb chops, chilled cucumber soup, sauteed broccoli rabe and for dessert, blueberries with ricotta cheese.

My total carbs for the day come to about 30-35 net carbs (My CCLL is 40).

If you don't know your CCLL and are doing the Modified OWL, you'll need to swap 5 net carbs of your Induction food, for 5 net carbs of your OWL food.

For example, you want to eat a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, you'll have to forgo 5 net carbs of your usual Induction carbs in order to eat that 5 net carbs worth of cottage cheese. In other words, you have to stay within your Induction carb limit.

      Hey,

Ya, I found my CCLL and...it's 50. But if I'm understanding what you're saying right, then that means that I eat my induction carbs and for my OWL carbs I eat them all in 5 gram increments?? Couldn't I just eat my OWL carbs in whatever amount instead of 5 grams, as long as I stayed under my CCLL??

Nope. You eat 5 net carb amounts of OWL foods during OWL. When you move onto Pre-Maintenance, you add 10 net carbs worth of foods to your menu. Again, you're still losing weight, so keep that blood sugar in control is important.

Your body might be able to tolerate 5 net carbs of blueberries, but it might not be able to tolerate 10 net carbs of it or 20 net carbs of it or even 30 net carbs of it while you are in the weight loss phases.

Limiting the amounts also help you to learn portion control---something many of us don't know and something that the Goalies who fall off didn't bother to learn either.

Cool. Good question. I was wondering this too... when I get through the OWL stages, it will be important to know. There's so much dang info in that book it's hard to remember.

              well that isn't exactly true.

if your CCLL is over 65 you have to have more then 5 net carbs of some rungs and if you did 2 or more sets of a rung in your testing of your carb ladder then you can have 10 or more net carbs of a rung as part of your OWL. like I love veggies so I added 3 sets of rung 1 to get all the veggies I wanted My CCLL was 110.
If you increase your exercise your CCLL will go up too.

Remember your induction veggies are the foundation of your House of Atkins eating to keep your body healthy and at goal for the rest of your life. your CCLL determines the size of your house.

Yes, but for us folks who have the "average to low
metabolic resistance to weight loss and are, therefore, in the 20-60 CCLL range, 5 net carbs of the OWL rung foods in addition to the Induction foods base will keep us in that CCLL range.

Oh, another question just came to mind. Everyday, do you have to eat 5 grams of every rung you went through? Also, are you allowed to eat more than 5 grams of the same food, if they aren't at the same time? Sorry, this is all really confusing.

Ok, I understand. Now can anyone answer my second question??

Also, are you allowed to eat more than 5 grams of the same food, if they aren't at the same time?

                        Re: Next??

well that is a loaded question. Obviously if you eat a cup of induction legal pumpkin you have more then 5 net carbs during your initial induction period. All the induction vegies that you added back in your first rung you can have more then 5 net cause you had your induction amounts plus your rung one OWL amounts too.

Can you be more specific what you mean by different times

What I mean is say you eat some OWL food (5 grams of it) for breakfast, would you be able to have another 5 grams for lunch, or dinner, or a snack, or anything else??
