  • Question about OWL

    So I have a question

Tomorrow I am moving from Induction to OWL... because I don't have much weight left to lose I should really move on.

Since I am so close to my goal... whenever I get around 150... it can take months for me to lose a single lb.

I know you are supposed to move up 5 net carbs every week in OWL as long as you are losing weight... but how will I know if I don't lose weight for weeks at a time? I would like to know my CCLL but I am not sure how because I could go up 5 carbs for the week and nothing may even happen for weeks.

Should I move up 5 carbs like every few weeks? Or should I keep moving up until I gain weight then move back down? But sometimes I gain weight randomly anyway.. I dunno... I am really not sure what I am supposed to do... haha

I've read the book but I am still not sure.. anyone know?

    Re: Question about OWL

I would say add 5g then stick with it until you lose weight (1 week, 1 month, whatever) and then add another 5g for however long it takes to lose another pound, etc. It'll be a lot slower this way, but more accurate. If you feel frustrated that you're not moving up the rungs quick enough, you could always move up the rungs without adding more carbs. Like, instead of having 5 extra carbs from veggies, just replace them with the dairy, then instead of veggies or dairy, add the nuts, etc.

      Re: Question about OWL

If you know your 14 day cheat free initial induction metabolic rate then you can use the chart in chapter 14 to quesstimate your CCLL and stop when you get close.

As for the foods you are looking for a blood sugar reaction which will cause cravings and any of the other symptoms listed in chapter 12. If a food causes you this problem then you dump it from your menu immediately. IF the oither foods you test in that group cause you troubles then you drop the group for now and maybe you can handle it at a later time in your Atkins WOE.

As a slow loser you simply climb the ladder slowly spending 3-4 weeks at each rung seeing if it has an adversew effect on your weight loss and spend more time on each rung gaining a thorough knowledge of your body anf that food group. Remember you can use inches changed to judge your CCLL.
