  • My tummy hurts!

Soooo, I bought a nice seedless watermelon a couple of days ago and have been nibbling on it here and there. Well yesterday I got home from working out and I was hot and sweaty and that watermelon beckoned me from the fridge.

Intended to eat just a few bites, but then Thunder (my 130lb Akita) came in to the kitchen and wanted some watermelon too, so it became, one bite for Mom, one bite for Thunder. And I'm pretty sure those bites added up to about 2 cups or more!!

Well my tummy started hurting yesterday afternoon - upset tummy! And now this morning I'm having gas cramps ....... and to top it off, blasted TOM came two days early and my tummy feels like crap!

I guess my Atkins body doesn't like too much watermelon, so it punished me by upsetting my tummy and calling in TOM to add to my misery!

Watermelon has a high water and sugar content, so your upset stomach might be due to a sugar overload (just like some people get sick from eating too much candy during Halloween).

I keep ice cubes in the freezer for really hot days (like the ones we've been having on the East Coast). I also make my own low carb ice cream. Whatever leftovers I have I pack into popsicle molds and freeze them for an ice cream popsicle. It helps me with portion control and it's also nice because homemade ice cream freezes solid, so it's nearly impossible to scoop it out of the container.

I was never a big sweets person before this WOE, but I'm guessing we become even more sensitive to sweet stuff, even natural sweets?

Ooooo good ideas! I'm really not a sweets snacky person, but I have been enjoying the fruit that I've added back in here and there. And I do get pre-TOM cravings for a little something sweet, then something salty.

I guess this was my lesson on not overendulging on watermelon!

Another thing I do is mix yogurt and mashed fruit together, then freeze that in the popsicle molds.

IF you do want the popsicle things, but the popsicle molds now, because they're impossible to find during the winter months.
