  • Starting OWL after extended induction

I've been on induction since Nov and I struggle with cheating, especially in the summer. I think I need to move on to OWL but do I need a clean two weeks of induction 1st?

What I'd like to do is just add a serving of berries once or twice a week to cut the *c*cream cravings. Is this a good idea?

Are you still in ketosis? If you are you can move into OWL. However, if you've been sloppy with your carb counts and your Induction menu, you might want to be strict for a few days, then move on.

Berries and other fruit are tricky things. They can revive blood sugar stability problems in some folks. I avoid cantaloupes because they trigger something in me that makes me want to eat---anything and everything---eventhough I don't need to eat. So you might want to re-think skipping over 3 rungs to add berries which you are planning to use to replace a sweet food.

You are so right. I need to deal with my cravings for sweets. My little bowl of berries and cream triggered a binge. Fortunately it was small binge but it was still a binge. I just have to accept that I cannot handle sugar in any form and give it up for good. I need to get back on a clean induction then move very slowly into OWL following the book instead of making it up as I go along.

      Thanks for the advice.

Thats the way, Michelle - you CAN do it
I find that if I add a few chilled cherry tomatoes to my chopped celery/mayo snack they really taste sweet!!
As the first rung is veggies you could add a few of those to something similar.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
