  • My 1st Month of OWL

Well, I have been on OWL for a month now and I have lost 9 pounds in that month! I am definitely one of those people that have seen my weightloss pick up once I started OWL. I am so happy that I decided to make the move.

I am still on the dairy rung, but will move to the nut rung this week sometime. I'm thinking I need to stay away from cashews as they have been evil to me in the past. I cannot control myself whenever I eat them. Do you think other nuts will cause me similar problems, or does anybody have any suggestions on nuts I should try?

Macadamias are by far the lowest in carbs, but they're almost the most expensive, but they're also the best tasting! I buy them in bulk for $7.99/bag (12 ounces, I think). One bag usually lasts me a week, but only if I keep it at work. If I have it at home, I'll eat the whole thing. Luckily, on the days that I do eat 4-6 ounces in one sitting, it doesn't cause a gain.

I've also tried dry roasted peanuts, but I could take em or leave em. It's good to know I could have them if I was at a party or a ball game or something, but they're too high to eat as a snack because I usually want a lot more than 5g worth.

Oh yeah, and peanut butter on celery is another one that I added on the nut rung. I use the all natural peanut butter, just peanuts & oil, and put about 2 tbsp. on a celery stalk -- usually for dessert!

I totally forgot about peanut butter!!!! And peanut butter is one of my most favorite foods in the whole world! Ok, now I am excited!

I have decided that I need to portion out my nuts into daily allowances, so I don't go crazy like I did in the past.

        Sarah,
Come join us in OWL. I love it here! My weightloss has picked up so much!

9 pounds in one month! That is great, I'm on my 2nd week of OWL, don't weigh-in till tomorrow, but I'm feeling pretty light. I hope I can do as well as you have done! Thanks for posting!

Nikki, I will be joining you soon. I'm just trying to iron out some of my kinks (making sure I'm counting all carbs, making sure I have no cheats, getting my water in, etc.).

I have read something somewhere, prolly here, about cashews and peanuts being in a class of their own, but not in a good way, peanuts are legumes?? Hazle nuts were recommended as being low carb??? Sorry, thats not a lot of help, perhaps it will jog someone's memory??
