  • New to OWL

    Hello,

I am totally new here, and have read the stickies about the rungs and power of five.
My question is I love to do recipes, to keep a variety to my meals, and also keep HUbby interested in LC, besides having leftovers for the week. I start the 1st rung of OWL on Sunday, and let's say I wanted to make Chicken Divan with broccoli, if I am supposed to use 16 oz of broccoli to recipe, how would I figure that broccoli carb count into my OWL veggies? If I am supposed to be very accurate with my counting, how will I make sure I have let's say 1/2 cup for that serving? Or do I just assume it is 1/2 cup, and leave it as so for my veggie count?

I am hoping you get the jest of what I am saying...or do you think I should just stick with whole foods and no recipes? I just want to make sure I do OWL correctly, as this is my first time doing it at all....I was a big induction to the end type of person.

    Re: New to OWL

wll you can fix your stuff and measure it out eactly in a different dish they DH's so you can know you had it or you can figure the veggie carbs for the whole dish and divid by the servings for the recipe like say you had 18 broccoli carbs and it served 6 so each serving would be assumed to be 3 and you could supplement yours by adding 2 more net carbs.

You do know you don't have to have the entire 5 net carbs of the same veggie right? you can have say 2 net of broccoli 1 net of lettuce and 2 more of tomato for your new 5 net added to your induction already eating veggies amounts.

    Happy OWLing.

Thank you, yes, I am aware of the mixing of veggies, I was just a little worried about how to figure veggies in recipes that I make, as I try to make food for the week on the weekends...you have put my mind at ease, and I feel like I can totally start doing OWL tomorrow! Thank you!!!!!

I also want to say, what an inspiration you are....WOW 146lbs. is an amazing weight loss! Good for you!

      Thanks again!
