  • Stuck- Need Help

I had more success during induction, lost 7lbs and decided to move to phase 2 where I lost 2 more lbs and 1'' off my waist, but that is all I've lost and it's been 2 weeks I'm now into rung 2, which ends today. I'm thinking of either adding more excercise or going back to induction.
    A typical day's meal is
    BREAKFAST
    2 Scrambled eggs
    2-3 Slices bacon or sausage
    1 med tomato
    LUNCH
    Chef's salad(2c.lettuce,1/2 chopped or shredded chix,crumbled bacon with oil/vinegar)
    DINNER
    Roast pork tenderloin
    Lemon/herb green bean salad
    1c.mixed greens with dressing
    SNACK
No bake cheesecake(1 slice), made with splenda
Decaf iced tea with 3/4c heavy cream
Pls help with ideas on how to speed my weightloss .

How much weight are you hoping to lose before moving to maintenance at goal?
If you can put your start/current/goal weight in your sig as well as your height/gender it will help people give you advice.
You say you havent lost any weight in your 2 weeks on the dairy rung despite adding the 3/4 cup cream - but it means that adding that didnt make you put on weight so that is success in a way

I would increase exercise first to up your metabolism and increase your CCLL and allow you to continue to climb up the OWL ladder.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Take care of your fat intake too. During Rung 1, you might not have to change the amount of fat you are eating. However, when you move onto the Dairy Rung, you might have to decrease the fat slightly. Remember dairy products are typically higher in fat and fat supplies more calories per gram than carbs or protein. And while Atkins provides a metabolic advantage to aid weight loss, if you consistently consume more calories than your body uses, you won't lose weight.

Also remember from Induction that heavy cream is limited to 3 fluid ounces as a Special Category Food because it might interfere with weight loss for some people. If the weight loss slow down has occured when you added on 3/4 cup heavy cream, you might want to remove it from your menu for a week and see if your weight loss improves. If the heavy cream is the culprit, you can experiment by adding it back in but cut out something fatty like that piece of cheesecake or a slice or two of bacon.

          Re: Stuck- Need Help

I have been on Atkins since May 2005. I, too, have been going thru some "stalls" and they are really frustrating - especially when you KNOW you have been "good".

We all want the weight to come off RIGHT NOW but I have to keep reminding myself that it did not get put ON my body overnight either!! I am 46 yrs old and my body is this way because of DECADES of abuse and neglect. I take total responsibility for that but have to keep reminding myself to be patient.

I have been rewarded with my efforts and have lost a total of 32 lbs in 3 & 1/2 months. I have to admit that it does seem to take forever. But I am determined THIS time to make sure that it works. I am NOT perfect though. Some of you may not like to hear this, but there ARE times when I eat popcorn or even that piece of pie or cake I want. I then take Phillips Milk of Magnesia to "even things out". As long as I stay in control and don't overindulge, I keep losing. I don't think that I COULD stick with this if I thought that I could NEVER have that piece of key lime pie again! To me, it's all about moderation.

I have also found that what helps me is to just concentrate on small goals of 5 lbs at a time. I have a LOT to lose (about 60 lbs more) so I don't want to discourage myself by being overwhelmed by the fact that there is SO much farther to go.

I have come to accept the fact that this is NOT just a "diet" but a lifestyle change. I am comfortable with that, so I have settled in for the long haul. Most of this is "mind over matter". I feel that I have made HUGE strides in conquering how I think about food, what my body actually needs and how this plays out for a healthier me in the future.

          Best wishes to all!

When I stopped loosing weight, I went back to induction. Lands up I was eating too many carbs. I am one who needs to stick to 25 or below to maintain my weight loss. I also need to get back to exercising. I was thinking about getting a walking DVD. Good luck and don't forget about the water..............Dawn

Since it's evident that I lost more with just eating 25-30g of carbs daily, is it ok to stay there and move through the other rungs later. I have 12lbs more to lose from 20 lbs.

Dont forget Dr Atkins said we should lose our last 5-10 pounds in premaintenance.

Try having less cream/dairy products for a week or so and see what happens before taking 2 steps back (going to induction) You might find that your losses restart when you move on up the ladder.

                  Re: Stuck- Need Help

You should be keeping a very careful count of the carbs you are eating during OWL because one of the jobs you need to do during OWL is to find your CCLL. CCLL differs from person to person. It's the number of carbs you can't eat over and still lose weight. As long as you stay below that number, you'll lose weight---unless you eat a particular food that you are intolerant to and/or eat too many calories.

The rules of OWL state if you stop losing weight or if it slows down or if any of your blood sugar instability symptoms reappear, you have to see if it coincides with the addition of any food/carbs. If it does, then drop that food or drop your carbs by 5 for a few days and see what happens to your weight loss.
