It depends on the ingredients of your granola. Also, many store-bought granolas are loaded with sugar.

The ingredients of the stuff I buy:

Whole grain rolled oats, mixed fruit sweetener, evaporated cane juice, diced apples, maltodextrin, freeze dried strawberry pieces, natural strawberry flavor......

      Serving size 1/4 cup

      Calories: 95

      Fat: 1.25

      Carbohydrate: 19

      Fiber: 4

      Sugar: 3

      Protein: 3

I see that with whole grains, I would need to wait until my grains rung of OWL. Silly me.

        Evaporated cane juice = sugar.

Maybe I misunderstood, but are we not allowed ANY sugar whatsoever or something? From what I understand, an apple has more sugar than the granola I would be having.

We're not allowed to have added sugar. Naturally occuring sugars in foods are okay. That granola you posted has added sugar in the form of evaporated cane juice and in the form of "mixed fruit sweetener". If you make up your won granola using whole grain oats, dried apples and dried strawberries, that would be more Atkins friendly.

Yes, but not all sugars are created equally. Sugars found naturally in foods are okay, but we still watch them, hence the OWL ladder. Refined sugars are not. I guess you'll have to decide once you're in pre-maintenance/maintenance what you wish to consume and what your body can tolerate. In the granola, I would also be wary of the other sugars (maltodextrin and the 'mixed fruit sweetener').
