  • Caffeine, when or how? or even if I should?

    Hi all,

    Did anyone ever add caffeine back in? I've been caffeine free since I've started Atkins. I havent even missed it. I have strictly avoided it and wont drink even diet beverages if they are not caffeine free as well..

    So, do I ever add this back in? I guess my concern is (since Im on the alcohol rung) that I need a mixer sometimes? Im sure I wont be able to find diet caffeine free pop at every bar. So what do you do? On Thanksgiving at my mothers house a cup of coffee sounded great, but my mother didnt have any decaf.

    I know I'm not going to jump into some caffeine filled Chuck E. Cheese ball pit after just one cup. I never had a problem with it before Atkins. I just cant figure out if it's right to add it back in...

    any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.....

    CAffeine is like the sweetener limit---Dr. Atkins doesn't write in the book, it's okay to increase or add it back in.

      I'm one of those people that never really gave it up. i did for a couple of weeks, just to see if it made a difference, drank decaf..then went back to my 2 coffees a day habit after that. I've had no issues with it...

      I drink diet coke as a mix all the time. I do try to find caffein free if i can..but only to avoid insomnia since i'm usually drinking it at night..though usually the rum helps with that LOL.

        I'll just throw a word of caution. Take it slow in adding caffiene back into your diet, and do not give up your drinking water habit now that you have a license to drink perhaps a carbonated soda now and then. They like desserts are an occassional thing, not an every day thing.
