  • I cheated

I went for 5 months and through Thanksgiving without cheating and then, it happened on Christmas. My sister in law made tiramisu and buckeyes. I finally gave in and I feel like garbage now! I only had a 1" x 1" piece of tiramisu but I had like 4 buckeyes. I have never felt so guilty. I swear I could see them right on my stomache the next day!!

So, now is the time to jump back on and NOT let this be a continual spiral. That is what I am most afraid of. Once you cheat, you continue to cheat and I do not want to do that!! So I am here to be honest that I screwed up and I am getting back on the horse! Wish me luck!

    Re: I cheated

So you cheated. Heads up, it could be worse - at laast you didn't give in to more of that tiramisu (I could eat a complete dish, if I let myself...)

    It is just one step astray and you are going straight ahead to the right WOE . Drink your water, try not to feel to guilty about it. It happens, but we survive and go on {{{{{{Kelly}}}}}}

The biggest problem as this leads to all out binges. Drink extra water. And next time remember how bad you felt.((((((kelly)))))))))))

As it is with Induction, make sure your next meal is an OWL Friendly one. Unless you've completely knocked yourself out of ketosis, there is no need to go back to Induction. Depending on your carb level, you might have to drop by 5 net carbs, but you might not.

yep if you are out of ketosis drop back to get ketosis control again and then pop back to where you were. Hold on tight cause all those nearal pathways that were fading out with the feelings and brain chems mimiced by your high carb memories were just revived too and you are going to have a battle on your hands reprograming back to low carb I love my atkins choices.

please keep coming to DBB for support during this time iof those high carb sirreens are calling your name and torturing you tempting you and trying to wreack you great progress. If you got before pics and current now would be a good time to plaster your food eating and fixing areas with them and ask yourself which one is this food chioice going to be helping me to become the unhealthy bigger me or the healthier smaller me? I know it sounds corny but I ran from that 300+ pounder my whole time and still do. it is very motivating especially when you see all the former ADBBer coming back cause that allowed themself to become the bigger self again and are once more restarting from the very beginning point cause they couldn't regain the I love Atkins cheatfree feelings again. Don't let that be you cause the slope is slippery and it is so easy to slide all the way down

          Happy low carbing.

Sometimes food gets the best of us (I'm not going to even mention my post Thanksgiving momentary pizza splurge...eekkkkk...it didn't even taste good!) but you can't get discouraged. You'll be back on track in no time!

                Re: I cheated

I am remembering the feeling. My stomache feels like there is a water slide going through it. All gurgly and gassy. It really is a yucky feeling. I am getting a friend started on this WOE so I am concentrating on going over all the rules, food lists, etc. with her. Making copies of recipes and my induction food list and that sort really helps me to get back on track.

I really have no idea if I am in or out of ketosis. To tell you the truth, I never really did. As long as the scale moved I did not worry about it. I am drinking lots of water, eating on the lighter side and hoping to rebound. My scale battery went so I can't even tell you if I gained or not. I am assuming so but, not really sure!

Buckeyes are very dense peanut butter balls (not sure what else is in the peanut butter but it can't be good) and then the balls are dipped in a chocolate shell on the bottom half. They are to die for. And unfortuneatly, 1 is never enough. Better to not even have the first!

                        Re: I cheated

Sometimes it's good to meditate or 'think about' the consequences of cheating and spirialling off your WOE.

I believe thinking about this, empowers your strength and allows you to overcome this 'bump in the road'.

There are severe consequences to indulging and going off Atkins - to your physical and mental health.

It looks like you are doing the right thing, because you are facing up to it and posting here. If we didn't hear from you then you could be on the high carb death wagon.

It scares me a lot about the possibility of rebounding or 'getting too confident' with my health!

What I do if I have an episode like that is indulge in my favourite induction food - the fattier the better, like a plate of roast duck, or some juicey roast chicken. I try to kill those cravings with some quality food!

                          Dave,

I am not having cravings real bad from going off. My fear is the mindset that oh, I cheated a little and am ok, next time it won't be so difficult. I have not cheated to this point because my theory is: Nothing I can eat can ever make me feel as good about myself as I am feeling now, like an alcoholic, why take that first cheat and take the chance that I can't pull myself back together. I did have some more Atkins friendly sweets after my cheat than I normally allow myself so I know it affected me in some way. But, I seem to be pulling it back together now! Thank God because I don't EVER want to feel out of control like I used to again!!

                          Happy New Year to all!
