  • Roll Call!

    Happy New Year everyone!

    Okay, so who's here?

    Who's fallen off?

    Who stuck on?

For anyone who fell off here's how you handle your OWL/Pre-Maintenance:
See if you are still in ketosis, either by those sticks or by the physical signs of ketosis.
    - If you are still in ketosis, then pick up where you left off in OWL: same carb level, same rung. IF you want, you can drop 5 net carbs below your carb level, but that's not necessary.
-If you are not in ketosis, then drop to Induction for a few days--just long enough to get back into ketosis---then move back to your carb level and rung. It's not necessary to "start over" again, that is, do the 14 Day Induction all over again. Just get back into ketosis and move right back.

So has anyone made any resolutions for the New Year (exercise more, measure foods better, etc.)?

    Re: Roll Call!

I'm here and doing okay. I binged Christmas day (just one little chocolate "pixie" started an avalanche of total garbage), but got right back on the next day. I realized that the mistake I made was giving in to "one little bite". A lesson learned the hard way.
I lost 3 lbs after that, so I've moved up onto the dairy rung.
As for a resolution, I'm having foot surgery tomorrow, so exercise will be on the back burner for a little while. My resolution is to live more in the spiritual world and less in the physical one, to keep my spirits up.
    Stats:
    Age: 41
    Sex: F
    Height: 5'2"
    Highest weight ever: 170+
    Goal: 114

Good for you lamby! You now know that "just one bite" is the kiss of death for you. Next time you'll be prepared.

I hope your foot surgery will be successful and your recovery complete.

I've been away from ADBB for the Christmas break, but I'm quite proud to say that I haven't been away from good ol' Atkins! The holidays were *great* in our house, and I'm looking forward to an even better year where I finally hit GOAL!

                Re: Roll Call!

I fell out big time, even before the holidays. At first I was able to keep it low carb, but then as Christmas approached it it got pretty bad.

But I'm here, ready to pick up where i left. I am doing Induction, this is my first day. Not sure how long I'm going to do it, but at least a week.

Hey Neon, do Induction long enough to get back into ketosis, then jump back on your OWL ladder!

                      Hi fellow OWLers

I managed to stay on plan throughout the holidays, as I do the cooking so can control what is around. I even made our family meal on Boxing Day (when we visited my mother) an Atkins one!

I am about to move on to the grains rung - but keep forgetting to buy grains!!

I have got so used to the lower rung foods that I have to keep reminding myself I CAN have starchy veggies. I even started to pick out the carrot strips from my 'Little Chef' chicken and bacon salad on the motorway yesterday till my DH said 'I thought you are allowed carrots now!!'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                          Re: Roll Call!

                          Ok, I am here.
I didn't fall off, I just stopped counting and measuring and due to visits and staying at my parents-in-law, I also stopped visiting adbb.
Somehow I am on this plateau since ages and well for the hollidays I just thought ok, lemme have just what I feel like, as long as it is in the plan, so I just didn't balance things out at all anymore, but stuck to meat veggies, eggs and some nuts (never more than 1 ounce) but I did have a glass of wine ocasionally.
Just to get me really back to plan I ate pure induction today and came to an exact 5/30/65, so very well done, maybe a little too little food, cause it is only something like 1300 cals, but I tend to eat low in calories since the beginning, I think I only ate up to 2400 cals once or twice in the time I am on atkins (almost a year now!!!!!)
Tomorrow I go up to rung 1 again and start from there since I never got to move up clearly and I know I am in ketosis so I don't feel the need to stay in induction longer, just had to get the grasp on the counting again and well maybe that day of induction was also like a little punishment.
Next I am gonna put on another 5 carbs of veggies, so ehm, how would you call that, an extended rung 1?
Hehehe, I just have to, I love my veggies too much and I am kinda scared of dairy, don't ask me why, but somehow I don't want to do the dairy rung yet.
Probably I just jump it and move to the nuts and seeds after the second amount of veggies.........dunno yet, first thing first, tomorrow rung 1

                            Good plan!!

I stayed on the veg rung for a couple of months so I could eat as many veggies as I wanted before moving onto the dairy rung - yogurt - yumm!

                              Re: Roll Call!

I loooove cheese and yoghurt and such, but since cheese makes me stall all the time I am really afraid on doing that dairy rung, I am afraid it is gonna make me fall off or something, or not lose anymore, and I really need to start losing some weight again, I am hanging around 77 kilo's since the beginning of juli, really, I am floating from 76 to 77 since then already.
Of course it can all kinda be explained, like my moving to the USA and the stress of waiting for the visa at first and all that, so in fact I AM doing pretty good, never fell off really (except for the mentioned ocasional glass of wine, but that was really like a few times, so not weekly or anything like that) but still, I am fed up with seeing this same weight over and over again.
So yah, that makes me scared of the dairy-rung.
                              *sigh*
