  • guess I'll start OWL

    Hi all,

I've just finished my third week of induction with no change in the scale since the second week . Thus, I am hesitant about moving into OWL, but I've heard that it sometimes helps to move on. I need to get past this stall and I hope that starting OWL will help!

    Good decision, Drmon.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Did you take your measurements when you began? If so, you may still be losing inches and may not be in a stall...?

good move. remember just cause the scale doesn't validate your hard work youare still shedding body fat. you will be adding lean tissue in the form of muscle tissue growth and as fluids that will come and go as they would on any weight loss plan.

So what you having for your extra 5 net carbs of induction veggies?

          Drmon,

I lost a total of 3 pounds during my 2 week induction. My first two weeks of OWL I lost 2 and then 2.5lbs. My third week I lost another pound. In other words, I seem to be losing better now that I'm in OWL than on Induction. Here's a link to the thread about my progress in OWL.

About the measurements, I didn't really take them when I first began except for my waist, which I've noticed does seem to be getting smaller. And my clothes are fitting better as well. I work out with an hour of cardio mixed with strength training almost everyday. Do you think I should take all over measurements now and start tracking that as well? I guess I just skipped that part in the beginning.

As for my extra veggies, yesterday I had some extra tomatoes, but I don't know if it was enough. I've been entering food into Fitday again and I was all worried because it looked like I was going over my carbs, but then I saw that I was forgetting to subtract the fiber! So I may have actually not been adding enough veggies in the past couple of days. I'm just afraid. I don't want to add too much and this meticulous counting really gets to me. It's driving me a little crazy to tell the truth. One question, do I need to start counting the carbs in everything, or is it ok to just keep eating the induction food and only counting to make sure I'm only eating 5 extra carbs worth of veggies? Does this make sense?

Thanks for all of your help!!

              Re: guess I'll start OWL

we count every carb that goes in our mouths because everybody has a unique number of net carbs their body can handle and the goal of OWL is to find yours ina controlled manner.

We add back 5 net carbs and look for any issues with that amount be uit weight gain or cravings. then we look at the new fods in those crbs was this the end of my carb road or just a bad for me food? those are why I call OL the great food experiment.

So you add the same 5 net carbs just different foods if you want from the rung you are on each day to the number you had on theprevious rung. if you finished induction having 14 net carbs a day then you start OWL by adding 5 to get to 19 easy right?

keep track of the food and your reactions. some folk can;'t handle whole rungs andothers just certain foods in rungs. Not2late even went so far as to not tolerate certain manufacturers in a food.

Great job on your exercise program!
