  • Moving onto OWL

    Hello....

well im thinking about it ive read and re-read the book about it but im not clear on some stuff...oh and Ive read the stickeys too...!!!

So Im going onto OWL and Im adding 5g of carbs from a rung either higher carb veg or more of what I previously had on induction ? (of course from the list)

Am I to stay with that same veg for one week and then move onto another rung ? how long do i stay on a rung for ? (taking into consideration if food is giving me craving s etc).

Is the 5g for each day or for only once in the week ?

Sorry Its just not sinking in yet
    Cheers

    Re: Moving onto OWL

    Welcome to OWL!

If you had some veggies that you didnt eat regularly on Induction, nows the time to give them a shot. You will want to add 5 carbs worth of that veggie 3 times per week. the other 4 days, you want to add 5 carbs of the veggies you did eat. If you didnt eat tomatoes during induction and want to add them back into your life, youcan have 5 carbs worth 3 times per week. Say youwant tomatoes M, W, and Friday. on Tuesday, thursday, saturday and sunday, you eat 5 extra carbs worth of what you have already had-mushrooms, cucumber- whatever you were eating on induction

You want to stick with that one new veggie for that week, seehow you feel etc. The next week, you can add another new veggie.

a little more info on that.

you can have a new to you food more then only one a week cause when you get to rungs 2-9 all the foods will be new to you just no more then 3 times a week on any one food and try not to have 2 new to you foods the same day if you can help it. you also do not have to use the entire 5 net carbs as the new food either you could have 3 carbs of tomatoes and 2 carbs of some other already had veggies if you wwnt to.

if you have that tomato and you get cravings or any blood sugar issues ( not2late uses the chart in chapter 12 to dertemine that for her) you drop that food immediately and use something else. the new to you food goes for any food that is new to you at any time in your plan too. like say you are on the legumes rung and strawberies come in season and you haven't had then yet. you can add them as part of your already gotten carbs since you pasted the berry rung but you don't want to have them more then 3 times the first week you have them and you shouldn't have 2 new to you foods at the same meal.

      Happy OWLing.

You'll be fine! OWL is the great food experiment. It's okay to take your time with it and really learn about foods and your body. Enjoy the variety!
