  • Starting OWL today!!

    Ok, I am starting OWL today. I was a little nervous last week but I am really looking forward to eating more veggies. I never used to eat them, but now I just love them!! I just hope this doesn't slow my weight loss. I didn't lose anything last week, but I lost so much on Induction that I think my body is just catching up a bit. I have been working out more, so I hope its because muscle weighs more than fat (that is what I keep telling myself). It was dissapointing to not lose last week when I have been losing but, I am sure I will start losing again.
    Right? I will start losing again?!?!?! LOL
    What would we do without it?



    Mini-goal- 149 by June 1st. I can do it!!!

    Bet you lost last week some inches in your body morphing on Atkins and remember everybody sees the smaller healthier you walking in the room not the scale number.

    OWL is great and many extended inductees actually find they lose faster in OWL then they did in extended induction.

    % more net cards of those healthy low GI induction acceptable vegies will not cause your weight loss to stop unless you have a CCLL exactly where you ate your induction carb levels.

    remember if the veggie is a new toi your Atkins eating you can only have it 3 times the first week you add it back and you shouldn't have more then one new to you veggie at a meal so you will know which food effected you should you have a negative blood sugar reaction. read the stickies and have fun in the great food experiment part of Atkins.

      Welcome to OWL!

      Alot of Atkineers experience a mini-stall after Induction. In an Atkins Diet video Dr Atkins explained that was due to us balancing out our body water distribution because we had lost "quickly" during the 14 Day Induction.

      You know how much you lost after 14 Days of Induction, so look up your degree of metabolic resistance on those charts in Chapter 13. That will give you an idea of your CCLL and ability to lose weight.

      Take the first rung one step at a time. Remember, don't add any more fat than you have been eating during Induction. I think that's where alot of OWLers get into trouble, they add more fat with every 5 net carbs they add to their diet. So, let's say you are having a salad for lunch today and you decided you want to add another 5 net carbs of cucumber today. Toss your 5 net carbs of cucumbers on your salad and use the same amount of dressing as you have been using during Induction.

      Enjoy your OWL. You'll be learning how to eat in the real world now!

        (Modified OWL-moving up rungs for convenience when travelling, keeping carbs moderate)

        Black beans.- instant headache and upset belly.
        spaghetti squash mixed with tomatoes- ravenous
