oh lord I need some help folks. Yesterday and Wednesday evening... I was ravenously hungry. Before Atkins Id eat lunch between noon and 1 and then have dinner around 6-7. Thursday and Wednesday by 5pm I have been ready to eat the house. Last night... I didnt even bother to grab a plate, I was picking out of the skillet. (I have NEVER done that, ever). Im still loosing, I didnt consume outrageous amounts of calories either day (actually ate in my normal caloric range), I dont crave garbage. I just dont know what in the heck is going on with me the last two days! I have increased my exercise in the past week- could that be the reason? Im on the pill and TOM should be starting on Sunday (I tend to skip one period and continue with the hormone pills for another month and this is a period I would skip)- is that it? Ive been too scared to grab one of the ketosis strips to test. When Im heavy in ketosis I have the blechy taste in my mouth but my job often requires close quarters so I chew gum and dont notice the mouth taste.

Anyone have any ideas what the heck is going on?

    Re: Ravenous

Review your menues. What did you add that was new to your diet? It's strange but some vegetables are triggers for some people. We had an ADBB member whose trigger veg was broccoli, another whose trigger was celery, and I can't eat any dish that combines eggplant and tomatoes.

If you didn't add anything new, then you have to look at other things...

TOM: can cause cravings/hunger. I know in the week before my TOM, I have to closely monitor my food intake because I will over-eat or eat when I'm not hungry (like 1 hour after a meal!).

The natural hunger-satiety cues: Sometimes your body needs more calories than other times. For example, if you've been exercising more (greater intensity, greater duration, etc.), your body might need extra calories to compensate for what you've been doing. Other times, your body will need less, so you won't have as great an appetite. So if you've been re-learning your natural cues, you'll find there are times when you are "hungrier" than usual or "thirstier" than usual and there are times when eating is so low priority that you have to force yourself to eat a few bites. That's totally normal.

      Thanks Megs.

      Yesterdays pre-dinnertime debacle food included-
BFast- egg white (hardboiled) and a piece of sausage. (normal breakfast for me nothing new)
Lunch- I went to Subway (first time at Subway since starting). I got the spinach and chicken salad so I had- spinach, chicken, cheese, tomato, onion, black olives and red wine vinegar. Nothing new there food wise other then it being subway. (side note... the smell of fresh baked bread didnt do a thing for me! woot!)

      Wednesday before dinner-
BFast- the eggwhite and sausage. (I had another piece of sausage around 1030 as my stomach was growling)
Lunch- Chicken and Spinach Parmesan from Lindas Low carb (this was the fourth day Id had this dish, nothing weird the other 3 times) and a half cup of cherry tomatoes.

My new veggie this week was the peapods which i had on Sunday night and Tuesday night. Neither night was different from any others. Theonly other thing that has changed food wise is that I bought a different brand of canned mushrooms. Ive not had a problem with canned (or fresh) mushrooms before.

My weights each morning have been going downward. (I only count mondays weight in the grand scheme of things and Im not obsessive about the scale, I keep track because my weight bounces around by a few pounds in a weeks time usually.).

Well, it might be your TOM. If your hunger is 'hunger' in the sense that you can't stop eating once you get started or you find yourself snacking when you aren't hungry. You might want to try eating alittle more (meaning another couple of forkfulls of protein/fat) with your meals. If that doesn't work, then it's probably those TOM hormones!

As an ex-bodybuilder - I can say, exercise will make you hungry. It's natural. What you need to be careful of, is overeating based on that hunger. It a normal portion - wait about 10 minutes - if you are still hungry, eat some more. Keep track of it.

Bodybuilding is actually what caused me this weight gain. I was working out all the time, so my caloric needs increased. When I stopped working out - AND DID NOT ADJUST MY CALORIC intake, wham-o. The weight packed on.

          Fast forward to now.

what in gods name.... I checked subways allergy list...their chicken has soybeans. why cant chicken be frigging chicken? argh. This is great, I have to travel part of next week...will be forced to get inventive for food choices thats for sure. JERKS! (in case anyone wouldlike the link http://www.subway.com/subwayroot/Men...ergenChart.pdf )

Thanks to EVERYONE! Looks like Ill chalk Wednesdays up to possible TOM and exercise changes and thursday to those evil beggars at subway in addition to the other two. gah!

Megs, I added a hardboiled egg to my salad (romain, maters, ham, and dressing) for lunch so we shall see if that tides me over a little bit better.

go tothe burger places and order a side salad and crumble a kids burger in it as the protein the cheese is not cheese food so you can have it too but don't orfder the shedded cheese cause potato startch is used to keep them from clumping

And you can alway go into a grocery store and buy a bag od salad and travel witrh a cooler containing yiur dressing cheese meat and eggs.
