  • Knocked out of Ketosis :(

Well, I had orientation yesterday evening for a new job. I ate around 1pm, and had to be at the orientation at 5. I wasn't hungry at the time, and to be honest, had to take the children to the sitters..and was just pressed for time, so I forgot to eat. I didn't realize that I would be at that orientation for over 3 hours! So... they had food and drinks. You know what they had for food and drinks? *sigh*

Chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, peanut butter cookies.

for drinks, Sugary lemonade and coffee.

Thats IT!! No water, nothing else to eat.

I began to get extremely hungry after not eating for 8 hours...so I had a chocolate chip cookie, and coffee with Equal. Totally sucked. It is the first Sugary cookie I had in over 3 months. I absolutely hated that I was so unprepared.

That cookie, was one of those big, thick, rich, soft, SUGARY, Full of chocolate chip, decadent cookies. It wasn't one of those cheap chip ahoy cookies. I had a sugar buzz, along with a caffiene buzz, and I felt sick to my tummy. So, that's it. I felt like I was forced into cheating, and I have done so well.
It takes me so long to lose, I hope this doesn't affect me TOO much. !!
    I did it!!

Well, it was only one cookie. I feel so bad for you, I probably would have done the same thing. Its hard to low-carb out in the 'real' world!! Nobody seems to care about all the unhealthy junk they serve! You will be fine, just go right back to eating good foods and forget about that nasty cookie that made you sick to your tummy!!
By the way, you look great!! I love those jeans!
What would we do without it?

        Re: Knocked out of Ketosis

Okay, you had no food available to you. So you know now to plan, plan, plan, plan, plan. Next time there is a function, make sure you either eat before going and/or bring something along that you can eat and drink.

Now, what you are going to do is get right back on Atkins with your very next meal. Since you are posting this in OWL, I'll have to ask what is your CCLL and your current rung on the ladder? You have the option of doing 1 of 3 things. 1. You can resume your current carb level because the one-time slip shouldn't throw you off that much. 2. You can drop by 5 net carbs for a couple of days, then resume your current carb level. or 3. IF you are completely out of ketosis, you can drop back to Induction level carbs for a couple of days to get back into ketosis, then resume your current OWL carb level.

Whatever you choose to do, you should resume your usual carb level and rung after a couple of days.

          Re: Knocked out of Ketosis

Thanks ladies Well, I am back into Ketosis..I dropped carbs dramatically all day yesterday to around 15. I eat an average of 30 now. Also, my TOM came, and I lost another pound LOL!! WHOOO!!!

Not 2 Late: I am teetering with the berry rung..but barely teetering. I also don't find myself eating alot of nuts either..and when I eat nuts at all, they are peanuts. My husband is doing extended induction, and I prepare all of his foods. Well, that isn't true, he is up one rung as we like our veggies. I pretty much wind up eating alot of the same things he does, because the only meal that is different for us is Lunch. My husband eats no nuts or berries, while I eat them perhaps 2 times a week. I am losing at a slow place, but do believe that by the time my husband is ready to move up the ladder more, we will be side by side when we do it since he is averaging 2 lbs a week. At that time, I will be able to concentrate more on our CCL. I have ventured out, but not enough to really find my own CCL since I won't eat more berries or nuts more than twice a week. Now, I wonder how much carbs that cookie had. I'm glad I was able to get back into ketosis. It took a bit over a day, but I did it.

            Re: Knocked out of Ketosis

Sorry to hear about your *little slip* but it really wasn't your fault, just everyday life trying to throw a curve ball at you.

Happy to hear that you are back in Ketosis! Its a good feeling, huh? Well, come on woman, we've got a lot to accomplish!! Spring is just about here (it did snow yesterday morning ) and bikini shopping is not too far off...if we wait too long all the good ones will be gone!!!

            Have a great day!
