  • Starting Rung 2 this week!!

    I am starting Rung 2 today, and I am so glad I moved on to OWL (thanks 2Big). I have decided that I want to try and add cottage cheese and yogurt (not at the same time), these are the two things from dairy that I miss. I just hope they don't cause me to stall. I keep hearing about Greek yogurt, but I have never seen that stuff before. Where can I get it? Is low-carb yogurt safe? I guess the yogurt thing is the big question for me. Any advice would be great! Thanks everyone.

    Black beans.- instant headache and upset belly.
    spaghetti squash mixed with tomatoes- ravenous

      I don't know anything about the low carb yogurts. Are they called low carb because they've added fruit/flavourings but are sweetened with splenda instead of sugar or something? Anyways, I love yogurt. I buy the Astro full fat plain yogurt, measure it out and add my own berries or flavouring and sometimes a bit of splenda. I like it way better then the flavoured/fruit added yogurts. I'll eat ricotta cheese the same way. It seems so decadent to me!

        I've used the Dannon Carb Lite yogurt, but they have berries in them, so you'll have to wait until the next week. They haven't given me a hint of trouble, no cravings, no stalling.

          Congrats on your move to rung 2. I love yocheese (greek) and eat it a couple times a week. Same with cottage cheese. Never heard of LC yogurt. I buy the plain yogurt and make my own. Add Davinci and berries (which you will need to wait on). It makes a great addition to breakfast too!

          I am going to have to try doing the same with ricotta Isabeau!

            I bought some lowcarb yogurt, but it has berries in it!! DUH!!!! It never dawned on me that I am not on the berry rung yet!! They did have vanilla, I will just go back to the store tomorrow and get some. the rest will have to wait! Thanks everybody.

                I know!! Thank you!! I weigh in tomorrow, so I am keeping my fingers crossed! I can't wait to go!! I think I will set my next mini-goal a little lower, 20 pounds takes too long! LOL

                  I love my yogurt! Once a week I cook a bag of frozen rhubarb in a bit of water, and cook it down until it's almost like a sauce (i leave a few chunks). I sweeten it and keep it in a container in the fridge, I put a 1/4 cup in my yogurt every morning. Rhubarb is actually on the induction list so you don't need to wait. One cup of rhubarb has 5.5 g carbs and 2.2 g's fibre (that's one cup pre-cooked diced), one cup of cooked rhubarb only has 11g carbs and 4 gs' fibre. It goes great with yogurt I think!

                  When I was in the states I tried bluebunny Low carb yogurt and i didn't like it at all. I thought it was bland and kind of watery. I prefer real yogurt. Though I did try a low carb yogurt smoothie drink (can't remember who made them..came in a pack of 4) that was very good. It also had berries though so only when you get to that rung.

                    OMGosh Jen! I'm all over that rhubarb! LOL Why haven't I made any? Doh! I will get some this weekend when I go grocery shopping. Thanks for making me think of it. I guess I just have always ate it in the summer so it just hasn't come to mind.
