What do I have to do to get rid of these last 11 pounds? The scale is just not budging at all. What is a realistic time frame to get them off? I'd like to be at my goal weight by April 6th. Possible? I've been at 126 for a couple of weeks now.

    Re: Last few pounds

I know for some people it could take a year to lose their last ten pounds. I guess it really depends. Have you found your CCL? Do you need to tweak your exercise program? Are you staying away from foods that may hinder your loss?

By the way, congratulations. You've done fantastic.

      Re: Last few pounds

I remeber towards the end I just stored the scale away and avoided weighing! Just eating within my rungs and working out it dropped off. Besides, no one really notices ten pounds, it's only about a dress size or so differance.

      And goodluck!

Since this is an OWL Forum post, I have to ask....what is your CCLL and have you gone through the OWL Carb Ladder?

You're in the "healthy range" in terms of BMI (Body Mass Index). You might want to get your body fat percentage analysed. 2Big was about 10 pounds from her goal when she got her body fat analysed and found that she was actually under the normal body fat % for a woman. So she declared herself at goal and has been maintaining since.

Up to a year! That is forever! LOL I'm very happy with how I feel now though. I am having surgery on April 7th and had this mind frame that if I could get to my goal before then, than the time lapse without working out wouldn't be so bad. I am just nervous I will gain weight back while I am in recovery since I won't be able to exercise for a while. I went up the rungs carefully though and have had no problems so far with that. I am in premaintenance now. At least my diet won't be compromised.

Thanks for the encouraging words. You guys (as always) are awesome!

Since you know that your activity level will be lower during recovery, you'll need to adjust your caloric intake accordingly. The best way to do this is the eat the foods that give you the most nutrition (vitamins, minerals and fiber). So, choosing 2 servings of broccoli, instead of a serving of low carb bread, might be better because the fiber is roughly the same, but the broccoli will be lower in calories and slightly higher in some nutrients. Choosing chicken leg might be better than a slice of low carb cheesecake, because the chicken leg will provide you with fat and nutritents (protein) the cheesecake most probably won't.

In terms of exercise, depending on the type of surgery, you really need to ask your surgeon about the kinds of exercise you will be able to do. For example, if you have knee surgery, that should interfere with you doing upper body exercises like free weights.

                Re: Last few pounds

Thank you so much for your response Megs. I am going to the grocery store this afternoon to gear up for the next few days (my surgery is tomorrow). I probably won't be to hungry for a few days but when I am, I want to have the fridge stocked with foods I can eat. I won't be able to exercise at all for about 3-4 weeks. After that, I will be able to walk a little.

                  Re: Last few pounds

Be sure to pick up a few cans of chicken broth, too. If you're stomach is too queasy from the anesthesia, you might need to liquidize your meals (ie: make soup).

Oh yeah, and there was a typo in my last post. It should read:
"For example, if you have knee surgery, that should not interfere with you doing upper body exercises like free weights."

                    Re: Last few pounds

I hope your Surgery goes well also if you were exercising before the Surgery you may want to cut your calories down till you can exercise then you won't be overeating without the activity. There is no reason why you would gain if you eat moderatly while you are down for you surgery. You sould like you ahve everything planned out that's excellent.

I have 16 pounds to lose and I am giving myself 1 year to lose it. It's really slow I ahve been losing on average about 2 pounds per month so I know for me it's gunna take a while.

(((HUGS))) to you hope everything goes well.

                        Hi used2be
It might be an idea to start a new thread for this question in the 'Exercise' forum so our exercise experts can give you some advice.
To do this go to that forum and click on the 'New Thread' box at the top of the list of threads.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
