  • Dairy Rung Question

Im a cheese-aholic. Since I made the move to Dairy yesterday, I stopped at the store on my way home and picked up some lil packs of cottage cheese and some Brie. (oh glorious Brie). Should I be counting the Brie against my 3-4 allowed ounces of hard cheese per day? What about the cottage cheese?

On a semi-related note, had cottage cheese for breakfast this morning.... it tastes nothing like I remember LOL. it tastes sweet!

    Re: Dairy Rung Question

On the dairy rung you can add 5 net carbs of cottage cheese AND eat your brie as you did in induction to see if your body can handle the extra amount of dairy.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Good for you!!! I started the Dairy Rung, too! I am adding cottage cheese and yogurt this week. I ate a low-carb yogurt today (yummy). No cravings or anything so far! I love Bree, too. Yummy!! I will add that next week.

If you find that your fat percentages have increased slightly because you are adding the fresh cheeses, you might want to decrease the aged cheese you are eating or decrease the added fat in your other foods---use 1/2 tablespoon of mayo instead of 1 tablespoon, etc.

THanks girls!!! Ill be careful of the Brie fat just in case.

SFG, I cant find low carb yogurt! I need to go searching other stores in the area for it. Not to mention that the LC icecream at the store was high in carbs in my opinion!

Make your own icecream (there is a receipe for Ziplock Icecream in the food forum). I found Dannon Light n Fit yogurt. It is made with Spenda, and has 3 total carbs. Its pretty good!! I also found a brand of cottage cheese with 3 total carbs per 1/2 cup.
I have been looking forward to this rung for a while. I love dairy, and am happy to finally be here!! I am also excited about having almonds for a snack again. Those are the only nuts I miss. I won't be on that rung very long! LOL

Dont bother buying special low-carb yogurt! Buy plain full fat yogurt instead and use sweetener/davinci syrups if you find they are too sharp for you.

Once you are on the berries rung you might find you dont need to add sweetener as the fruit will be sweet enough!

I love plain yogurt. (weird I know, I love that its bitey!) But the ones I looked at seemed really HIGH to me. I looked at Dannon and Stonyfield Organic (plain, no sweetner in them). maybe I should just suck itup and not fear the higher carb items.

                    Re: Dairy Rung Question

The 5 net carbs of plain full-fat yogurt is about 1/3 to 1/2 cup depending on the yogurt brand. That's roughly the same amount in those low carb yogurt containers. Make sure you eat that yogurt with a protein, because yogurt does contain natural sugars--lactose and galactose.
