  • A Couple of Questions

    Hi,

This is my first week on OWL and I have a question. I have lost a toal of 13 lbs on induction (stayed on it for 3 weeks) and I would like to know how many pounds will I have to loose to drop a dress size. I am in between sizes.

Also, I have been working out faithfully and lifting weights and I notice that the needle on the scale is going the wrong way. Should I stop exercising because my intention is to loose and not to gain. My Ketotis sticks shows that I am in still in ketosis--need a deep color--but it is showing....

    Please help.

To be honest, this is likely to be different for different people. I dont think its possible to generalise that at all.

Sorry. Its a case of "your mileage may vary".

      Re: A Couple of Questions

Don't stop exercising, stop getting on the scale!! Its just a number, go by how you feel and how your clothes fit. Are you drinking more water since you are working out? If not, that may be the problem. Only weigh once a week, and remember it doesn't mean a thing. Same with the keto sticks, they don't really tell you what kind of ketones your burning, if its comming from fat from your diet or fat from your body. Do you measure?
What would we do without it?

      Mini-goal- 149 by June 1st. I can do it!!!

This is the time when you need to measure measure measure!

Especially if you are lifting weights. Start measuring!

I don't care how much the scale says as long as I'm visibly smaller...and the weight lifting will do that for you!

Get a measuring tape and start measuring TODAY!

          Re: A Couple of Questions

When you Lift weights it is Completely Normal fo the Scale to creap up before it goes down. What happens when you begin to lift weights is you break down the Muscle fibers this is Why we get sore when we lift weights. Think of it like a Sprained ankle you sprain it it gets all Bruised and it swells with water weight this same type of thing happens within our muscles only you can't see it except you see the scale Creap Upwards. THIS IS WATER WEIGHT or bodyies transport water to the sight of muscle breakdown and retains it for repair. You DO NOT want to quit lifting weights Use the Tape measure to measure yourself weight lifting Increases the Metabolism and helps you transform your body into a more steamlined Body Yes, just with weights. Muscle and Fat weighs the same But one Pound of muscle weight gain like a chunk of streak looks better then a Nice Plump Pound of Butter. I would go for the steak any day.

So keep it up as your body adapts it will no longer need the water and it will lose weight.

            Re: A Couple of Questions

About dress sizes-- I'm 5'3 and a new size for me is 12 pounds. Again, YMMV.

And DEFINITELY don't stop exercising-- exercise is the only thing that's changed for me in the last few years. I went from a 6 to a 4 just by adding weight lifting to my routine!

              Re: A Couple of Questions

              You've been given great advice.

Don't stop exercising because exercise burns the fat and tones your body. In the past, some of our members have reported that they fit into a 'smaller' dress sizes even though their weight is higher than the last time they fit into that dress size. It's the muscle and body toning from exercise that mostly responsible for that.

              So measure, measure, measure, measure!
