After a month of clean induction (yippeeee!!!) I have decided to move on over to OWL so I can enjoy some more of my veggies! I'm not going to commit to going completely up the ladder just yet - I want to monitor how things go and will decide after a couple of weeks if I need to stay in OWL phase or go back to Induction. With a thyroid problem, I realize that OWL may slow me down too much, so that's why I'm taking this 2 weeks at a time instead of focusing too much on longer term goals. This first 2 weeks is more a test of my metabolism, so wish me luck!

Re: First day on OWL!
Welcome!
Take it slowly. Be careful about measuring and documenting your foods, especially since you have a thyroid problem. You can more or less estimate your CCLL by the charts in the book.
But take it slow. OWL is great---this is where you learn how to eat Atkins in the real world.

Re: First day on OWL!
I forgot to add...
Take whatever carb level your body gives you. Let's say you find that your CCLL is 25. Don't be sad or depressed and go back to Induction. No way! 25 net carbs is great. You can still go up the Carb Ladder trying out 5 net carbs of the foods in the rungs. Believe me, 5 net carbs of fresh strawberries or 5 net carbs of carrots or 5 net carbs of pinto beans is enough to make any meal less than boring. Embrace your CCLL and look at the foods you will be able to eat as yummy additions to your current menu.
