  • Which bread do you eat on OWL?

I have been standing in the bread aisles looking through nutritional labels and been eating Sara Lee' s Delightful Wheat. But what have you found that you like? I've noticed my family eats this without complaint as well.
Always interested in if there are better choices. We also have tried the bread with vegetable fiber in it. I think it has a big 45 on the package.

I have to limit my wheat consumption because if I eat a wheat product more than twice a week, my asthma acts up.

Anyhow, the bread I have in my freezer is Nature's Own Double Fiber. 10 total carbs, 5 fiber carbs, for 5 net carbs per slice. It's not bad, imo. It's about $2.50 a loaf, but since I eat maybe 1 slice a week if even that, the loaf lasts a long, long, long time.

Nature's Own also makes a "low carb bread". It has a lower fiber amount, something like 3 grams. So, I figure the Double fiber is the best buy since it has the most fiber per slice.

I never ate bread until maintenance. And even now, not a whole lot of it. I love the Pepperidge Farm Carbstyle Whole Wheat. 5 net grams per slice.

I've seen the Pepperidge Farm bread in the supermarket. Around here it's about a dollar more and the loaf has less slices. I'd still end up freezing it because I don't eat bread often.

But as it is, the loaf of double fiber bread in my freezer has been there since last February and I'm just nearing the half-way point on it!

Never eat wheat bread and don't miss it - may have a couple of slices of German Rye bread in a week. I go through phases of making something sweet or savoury with flax and whey protein.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
          he said, 'Don't count calories.'

I have not seen that peperidge farm variety before, but I will keep my eyes peeled for it. As well as the Nature's Own Double Fiber. I kind of live out in the middle of nowhere and variety sometimes is not as great as it would be at a larger grocery store. I do drive into Dallas through and visit Kroger for dreamfields pasta so could look at their breads as well.
BTW I do love Rye bread as well. Love patty melt's.....

We have bread so infrequently (DH likes for French Toast every so often, and I've had exactly one grilled cheese sandwich since January, right when I got to grains) that we bake up a loaf in our bread maker using one of the Atkins mixes, then cut the loaf into 3 portions and freeze 2 of them. The mixes were a present from my mother so it didn't cost me anything, and the bread is nice when it's fresh.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

Thanks for reminding me Jimmie. Brownberry is also known as Arnold's in some parts of the US. Don't ask my why...it's sorta like Edy's and Dreyer's ice cream brands. It's the same product but it's called Edy's east of the Rocky's.
