Re: Ketosis Strips
Yes, it means your spilling lots of fat into your urine. Either your eating a lot of fat or burning it. Are you drinking your water?

Re: Ketosis Strips
Ok so I looked up Ketone and this really scares me...
ketone:
a chemical produced when there is a shortage of insulin in the blood and the body breaks down body fat for energy. High levels of ketones can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis and coma. Sometimes referred to as ketone bodies. The "Coma" part scares the **** out of me... Is this why I need to drink a lot of water? I thought the presence of Keytones was a good thing.

Re: Ketosis Strips
Ketosis is burning fat, not diabetic ketoacidosis which is dangerous. Your body is using stored fat and dietary fat for fuel because it runs out of carbohydrates quickly.
The presence of ketones IS a good thing. Light pink vs. dark pink vs. light purple vs dark purple is the issue here. ANY change of color is ketosis, but as it gets darker, it doesn't mean you're burning more fat, it means the ketones are concentrated, and you need more water to flush them out. They are not harmful, its just a constant cycle, you need to keep them moving.
Read the water sticky about how GREAT water is for you.

Re: Ketosis Strips
Dr Atkins explained the process in Chapter 6 - the great fat meltdown - n DANDR 2002.
Here is a brief explanation of the difference between ketosis and ketoacidosis in the FAQs http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=17364 but reading the book would explain it in more detail. The DANDR reading programme thread will be covering that section of the book this week if you want to join in with us here http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=30823
either post in the thread to join or pm jimmie 48 to be added to the list of members.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
