  • Soft foods ideas???

I had a rear molar extracted today...it hurts....and even after it heals, I'll be missing a chewing tooth until I get an implant..
any ideas on soft foods to eat? I only eat meat and veggies, I have grain allergies and am not up to fruits yet...

    thanks everyone!

If you have a slow cooker, you can get your meats nice and soft. You could make yourself some soups also.

A little soften cream cheese, canned pumpkin and a packet of spenda - slightly chilled - YUM!

No slow cooker, eggs make me nauseous...
soups sound good, but I hardly ever eat soup, so I'm not sure what would be low carb and yummy?

I'm definitely going to make up some mashed cauliflower stuff...I've been meaning to try it forever!

Y'all are all so sweet, thanks so much for the help. I'm a mess in the kitchen, I usually eat a grilled meat and raw veggies for nearly every meal!

Becca, definitely go with the soup.

Clam Chowder- sautee some bacon, celer, and onion in a pan, let the onions and celery soften. You don't want the bacon too crisp though. Add a can of clams with the juice, add chicken broth and some cream. This is delicious.

You can also make a cream of vegetable and ground beef or chicken....squashes are easy to cook until they are really really soft. Add chicken and ground beef, chicken stock and cream.

You could make yourself a shepherd's pie with the mashed cauliflower and ground beef and cheese.

Posting that got me thinking that I needed something high fat/low carb for dinner, so I went and whipped up a quick cup of the clam chowder....see how fast that was??? Now I have to wait until it cools down enough to eat. Yum!

                      Re: Soft foods ideas???

I make soups of whatever leftover cooked meat and veggies I have in the fridge.
Just cook it in some water with some spices/herbs till it is really soft then pop in the food processor and wizz it all together into a nice sludgy texture.
Then put back in the pan, add some cream or butter to taste and enjoy.
You can reserve some of the meat/veg and shred it to add if you like soup with 'bits' in.

I even use the peeled skin from celeriac or turnips and the leaves from cauliflower and broccolli to make soup stock this way - make sure you wash it carefully before boiling it up.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                        Cauliflower soup:

Cook some cauliflower till soft, drain and add chicken or veggie stock, a bit of cream, salt and pepper, blend with a hand blender or in a blender till smooth as you like it. consistency depends on how much stock you add. I also like to throw in roasted red peppers, or chopped sauteed mushrooms and top with shredded cheddar. it's dead simple, tastes really good and a good way to get your veggies.

In the Main Dish forum of the Recipes Section, I have a recipe for "Instant Vegetable Soup, My Way". This is super easy and you can use whatever veggie and meat combo you like.

Other soft(ish) foods would be ground meat dishes like pate. Easy to do those too---think meatloaf using a finer grind of meat, which you can do in your food processor.
