  • Berries???

I am on the berry rung. I just purchased frozen blackberries and rasberries today. My question is I did not get the unsweeted kind. I did not realize they made unsweetened and sweetened. The kind I bought does list sugar in the amount of 6 or 7 grams per serving, and 20 carbs less 4 grams of dietary fiber. I have not eaten any yet, b/c, I wanted to make sure the kind I bought were okay. If need be I will go back and look for unsweetened, but to my recall I didn't see any. These do not have any sweet syrup or anything else added to them that I can tell. They are just plain frozen rasberries and blackberries.

It's probably natural sugar from the berries. Is sugar in the ingredient list? If it's listed separately then it's been added. If the only ingredients are berries then it's just the naturally occurring sugar in the berries.

LadyInRed. thanks for your prompt help. The sugar is listed right under the dietary fiber. Under the word "INGREDIENT" is blackberries and that is all. So, is this okay. Is it just the natural sugar that is being listed under the dietary fiber?

Yes, that's what it sounds like. Go ahead and eat them. Try and eat them with some heavy cream or cheese too so that you lessen the sugar impact (and avoid triggering cravings). Have fun with your yummy berries!

Okay, great...I will be making a mock danish with the berries on top with a little whipped heavy cream. Does that sound like the right way to make a treat? Thanks so much LadyInRed.

BTW, I absolutely love your Avatar pic. It makes me laugh when I see you around this ADBB town and you are letting those ugly trolls have it.

          I think you are great!

One of my favorites last summer when I was on the berry rung... SMOOTHIES! Into the blender I'd put about a cup of ice, a cup of berries, a packet of splenda, and enough cream to make it creamy. Sam's club has terrific deals on the large bags of frozen strawberries and other berries. I've seen some recipes that call for soy milk, and admittedly I made them with low-carb milk as well. Smoothies are just awesome!

I like to take fresh berries and freeze them and then pour heavy cream on them and eat 'em! The cream freezes immediatley and it is soo good!

I also like plain greek yogurt and berries, it is to die for!

I've seen other people talk about greek yogurt. I haven't found this item yet. Is it in the yogurt section at the grocery store?
