OMGosh! A modeling agency called me and they want me to fly out to Las Vegas next month to walk in front of 1500 scouts, holy crap! I don't know what to do because I have to pay for the airfare and they do the rest but we just have no money right now...

Re: I Got The Call!
Ummm, Kimberly?
Can I ask you a couple questions?
How did they get your number? Did you go to a hotel or similar type set up?
What's the name of the agency?
What is "the rest" that they say they are going to do???
Modeling is very time consuming and costly. And you need to be near a major market to be available for jobs. I don't mean to burst your bubble or anything, but I did a few years of this with my daughter. And we are only a couple hours from Miami, which is a major market. And it was a pain in the rear. And overall it probably cost me more than she made.BARB

Re: I Got The Call!
I had contacted them through a site called Modelsearchamerica and submitted my pictures. The lady called me today and said I'd be perfect for plus-size modeling, the only thing is the cost of the airfare because I live in Michigan and it's gonna be expensive. I don't know maybe I should just give up... I just love fashion and photography

Re: I Got The Call!
Yeah, that's who I thought it was. It's a scam. Don't waste your money. If it is something you truly want to pursue, then look in your local yellow pages for talent/model agencies. Contact a local agent. Heck contact all of them. They will be more honest with you about your possibilities and the work available. Well, they SHOULD be anyway. It's really a shady business, truth be told (from my experience). But unless you are super model material, you have to pay for your photo shoots (photographer for your comp cards), you have to pay for your "comp" cards. You have to pay for all your expenses to get yourself to casting calls. It's a business. And you need to be close to the place where the "business" is done. Like, Miami, New York, LA, etc. My daughter did a few commercials and was an extra in a European Soap. Did quite a few Swimsuit shows. It was fun. But when we added it all up, it cost more than she made.Originally posted by Kimberly_PI had contacted them through a site called Modelsearchamerica and submitted my pictures.
