  • Moving to OWL Rung 1

I'm moving on OWL from today... I'm a bit scared but I think it's best for me 'cause I'm getting bored and I want to have more choices about my food.
I'll see how it goes! I'm exercising (after last week break with me sick and such) so I feel that I didn't lose anything last week 'cause I had to stay in bed!
ANyway, this was my fourth week in Induction so I feel I need to move on.
    Wish me luck

    Good for you!

I was really afraid to leave induction. But these fine folks convinced me that it was silly to worry. Boy were they ever right! I have added more things back into my way of life. Veggies that I'd forgotten were so good. The seeds and nuts rung was a little over tempting, but I've since gotten that in check. Also the berry rung is absolutely awesome!

You have so many new things to try!!

Enjoy, and let us know how it's going!

    Good Luck and have fun!!

Take it slow and easy. Remember Rung 1 is just adding 5 net carbs of any Induction veggie.

I'm having some more mushrooms or some more lettuce... I bought green beans... and overall I'm trying to have veggies at every meal, even breakfast!!
It's very difficult for me to get over 20 gr. of carbs per day, since before I used even less... but I'm trying to find a balance to eat the same amount of carbs every day... but it's difficult!

dont be afraid of higher crab veggies! Brussel sprouts add about 5 carbs for 8-10 of the wee lil heads (I weigh mine to be more accurate). Broccoli and cauliflower are higher carb as well.

Great move, seeing as you were bored. OWL is definitely the right decision to have made. Go leisurely and test your reactions as you wander up the rungs. It's exciting to have extra food choices and yes... you do still lose!

go with the higher carb veggies...they usually have higher nutrient values as well AND higher fiber to go along with it. I regularly eat
              Brussel sprouts
              Green Cabbage
              Summer Squash (yellow crookneck)
              Zucchini
              spaghetti squash
              spinach
              collard greens
              mustard greens
              turnip greens
              chayote squash
              tomato
              onion
              cauliflower
              broccoli
              snow peas
              green beans
              string/pole beans

Re: Moving to OWL Rung 1

Another good way to eat your vegetables is to use them as sauces or soups. 1 cup of spaghetti squash with 5 net carbs of a fresh tomato sauce takes care of 1 cup of your Induction veggies and your 5 OWL nets.

Since it's hot and humid in my part of the world, I tend to go for the chilled vegetable soups like gazpacho, chilled cucumber, or faux vichyssoise (creamy cauliflower soup). Depending on your recipe, 1/2 cup will be about 5 net carbs.
