  • Question about parmesan

If I'm not on the dairy rung, am I allowed to eat parmesan cheese?

    Thanks!

    Re: Question about parmesan

Gosh I hope so cuz I've been eating it all along. It's a hard, aged cheese so I'm pretty sure it's allowed for all stages.

      Re: Question about parmesan

I'd say ABSOLUTELY! I've been eating it all along. Note p. 125 in DANDR at the bottom is a "*" note, explaining about which cheeses are NOT allowed. I deduce from the fact that parmesan is not excluded here that the list following "including:" isn't all inclusive, but rather a list of examples of legal cheese varieties. Parmesan is an aged, hard cheese. Grated or not, dried or not, it has one of the lowest carb counts of the cheeses. You are allowed up to 4 oz/day.

        WHEW!

Thanks Ladyinred and Stomper. I'll take a closer look at the section about cheeses when I get home. I'm glad to hear that parmesan has one of the lowest carb counts, because I love the stuff.

          Re: Question about parmesan

it is induction legal up to 4 ounces and an additional 5 net carbs of it in OWL rung 2 cocoa powder BUT remember when Dr Atkins created his rules he believed all legal cheeses to be counted 1 carb = 1 ounce of cheese no matter what your container says about 0 carbs per ounce
