I've decided to stop eating green beans. I don't understand why, but they always make me hungry, even after eating a small amount! I thought green beans were low-glycemic?

Different folks react differently to foods. 2Big has a problem with celery. I remember another ADBB member had a problem with broccoli.

The good thing is that you recognized the problem and now you can tailor your menu to suit your individual body.

That's weird isn't it, how everyone has some low carb foods that are not compatible with their WOL? We all have such different body chemistries! I'm glad too I recognized it, I don't like being hungry in the day...ech.

I seem to do ok with turnips...guess I'll have to explore more veggies! Too bad there's a such scare on spinach now...I love that stuff.

Grow your own spinach next year. If you have a bit of yard or a really sunny window, you can grow it in containers.

Unfortunately I have neither LOL. I wish I could grow veggies in my balcony or the balcony window but our window points westward, so there's not enough sun. Plus, there are trees by the balcony and I bet the bandit squirrels would love to go digging in my pots.

          But thanks for the suggestion!

Mmmmm. I love green beans. I'm sorry to hear that they are giving you a hard time, JC. Have you tried other dark leafy veggies like dandelion and kale and such? They might be a passable sub for spinach.

Dandelion? I've never had that...can you get that in regular grocery stores?

I'm just paranoid in general about salads right now...which is silly because regular lettuce should be ok...like leaf lettuce.

                Re: Green beans

I've gotten dandelion in our regular food store. Usually they have all the different kinds of lettuce in one area and then beside it they have the other dark leafy greens and then beside that they have herbs and stuff. It's around there somewhere. I think I needed it once for a soup or something. It's the kind of thing you might find in "spring mix" type salads. Don't be paranoid about the lettuces. They are most likely okay.

Oh I've had spring mix type salads a lot...I probably have had dandelion and not noticed LOL! I'll have to pick up some lettuce or other salad this weekend.

                      Re: Green beans

I was sharing with someone the other day - EXACTLY what you have noticed about green beans. And that is - with this WOE I know what I can eat, can't eat - what affects me, what doesn't. I've tried 100's of other diets but this is the first time I've gotten to know my body well enough to know that something is bothering me (or not). 1 tablespoon of sour cream - bloated for 2 days. I NEVER noticed that ever before - and I LOVE sour cream.

So like the green beans for you... or broccoli, or ... It's amazing to me how much we are all learning about our bodies. This isn't possible on Weight Watchers because you always eat a little of everything, so who KNOWS what's causing the problem.
