I was going to get some Egg Drop Soup from the Chinese Restaurant next to my work. I figured the only ingredients were eggs and chicken broth but I wasn't sure so I didn't get it. Is this ok to have on Atkin's?

Re: Egg Drop Soup
Good question, Kimberly... I'd like to know the answer to that, too. I love egg drop soup! I've found that Chinese food (otherwise) is dangerous for me, though. Even if I try to make Atkins-friendly choices, I get out of control in a hurry. Just too tempting...

Re: Egg Drop Soup
I have many other low-carbers in my family, and a few of them swear by Egg Drop Soup. The egg floating around freaks me out visually (I know, I'm weird), so I don't have a lot of personal experience with it.
I found an entry for it on Calorieking.com: http://www.calorieking.com/foods/cal...vcCBzb3Vw.html
where it's listed as 3g carbs per cup. But that's if you get an egg drop soup WITHOUT noodles. A few places serve it with noodles.
So you could definitely try it as long as the broth isn't super-thick or noodle-filled, and see how it affects you.No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

Vigilance, not perfection.

Re: Egg Drop Soup
Most use corn starch for thickening. It's very easy to make your own though. I haven't made it in a while. But I did just buy some fresh chives just to do that! I'm going to use Xanthan Gum for thickening and see how that comes out.BARB

Re: Egg Drop Soup
Here is my favorite recipe for eggdrop soup. As I said, you could just leave out the corn starch, or try the Xanthan Gum. (Sparingly on the Xanthan)
