  • Swiss Cheese

I bought some swiss cheese the other day, it's made by Lorraine and it's really long. I was just curious if I should cut that in half and count that as 1 carb or eat one and count it as 2 carbs?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, is it a cheese stick kind of thing? If so why don't you try weighing it and adjust the counts according to the ounces. I assume it doesn't have a carb count on the package?

      Re: Swiss Cheese

you need to know what the manufacturer says the carb count is for the product and then figure your serving size. Cheese is down by weight and usually one ounce is a serving size.

you can cut your slice to any size you want and adjust the carb count accordingly. if you bought it in the deli you should have a weight on the package and just divie that by the number of slices you bought and you will know about what each slice weighs.

They didn't add a nutritional label with it when they put it in the bag and I tried looking it up online and can't find it, I had found another one made my Lorraine and it said it has 1 carb per serving but this piece of cheese is pretty big.

Then I would recommend getting a food scale and weighing the piece you are going to have. I would imagine it would be like any other cheese, 1oz, 1g of carbs. did they say what a serving size is?

I agree with Jen. See what the serving size is....I highly doubt that the entire piece of cheese you purchased is 1 serving of it.

Also diet food scales are no more than $10.00 at Walmart or Target. They are worth every penny because you can weigh cheese, nuts and other foods.

actually if you had ask to see the nutritional label they would have accomadated you as it is on the package of the cheeses in the deli. I have read many of them looking for hidden carbs and for me soy.

Next time I think I'll ask to see that so I know exactly how much to eat. I haven't eaten any of it yet because I'm still trying to find the nutritional information on here. I'm going to go and buy a scale also, probably next week when I have a little extra money.

It shows as 0g's however I would count each ounce as 1g. 1oz of cheese is about the size of 4 stacked dice, or your thumb. You can use that as a guide until you get a scale
