  • Moving Into Pre-Maintenance

    Hi All,

Haven't checked the boards in a while, but I have been sticking with the lifestyle. BTW, I'm loving it! I get compliments all the time on how healthy and slender I am looking and I feel fantastic. The icing on the whey protein cake so to speak was my doctor's appointment today. My last doctor's appointment was what called me to make a change in my life when I saw the number's on the scale, and when the nurse today looked at me and said, "You look fantastic. What have you been doing? You've lost 21 POUNDS since last time you were here!" I couldn't help by smile ear to ear and excitedly tell both the nurse and my doctor about my new WOL. They were estatic and half sounded as though they wanted to follow suit.

I have 12 pounds to go for my goal (or at least the goal I set when I started...I don't know that I will, or need to, get to that) and have decided to move into pre-maintenance at this time. Any suggestions or hints would be helpful!

I updated all my weights and measures today after not getting on the scale or measuring for over a month. Check it out if you're interested.

Hope everyone is doing well. I think I may go ahead and post some more recent pictures today eeek.

    Karen

WooHoooo! I'm moving to pre-maintenance once I'm down to a size 10 (hopefully that will be soon!)

Re-read the pre-maintenance chapter in the book and be sure to watch out for any of those blood sugar instability issues when you add your Pre-Maintenance foods!

woo hoo congrats on the great job you have done working your Atkins so far.

the biggest issue with premaintnenancew is appetite suppression is gone! Dr Atkins kind of jokingly passes it off but since you have been practicing for weeks if not months the correct way to feed only your hunger , eat only enough to satisfy your hunger and stop, learned what foods on the rungs and/or whole rungs trigger you and how to control the cravings should they reoccur you have the skills knowledge and tools needed to be a successful Atkineer in thise phase.

Just be strong and don't let those evil carb sireens woo you over to the dark side

Not2late- you'll get to that 10 soon! and, oh, it feels so good to pull those old clothes out of the back of the closet and slip into them easily when before you couldn't squeeze them on!

2big- thanks for the great advice and support as always. luckily my appetite seems to be under control. it seems to be more mentally instilled now than physically. i have a whole new outlook on food. example: went to a wedding this weekend. i have never liked to "deny" myself anything, so I never have that approach with things. but i honestly looked at that wedding cake and knew i wouldn't enjoy it-too too sweet for me now-so i ate the rasberry garnishes and was completely satisfied and happy. i love that i don't feel deprived!

kkat- thank-you for the suport. don't you just love the berry rung?! So glad I didn't have any negative reaction to the berries because rasberries are my new favorite thing to calm a sweet tooth.

kacey- I don't know about being someone to look up to, but thanks so much for the encouragement! you are doing a fabulous job yourself!

yes i know right now your appetite is controlled but was you move closer to your CCLL your physical appetite will return and that was what I was talking about. instead of not being hungry all day like you get with deep ketossi you now know it is close to meal time cause your appetite is back. it can be scarey the first time you experience it so be ready.
