Re: Low carb beer....
Alcohol is Rung 5. As for the number of servings, Dr. Atkins doesn't say. But I don't like to exceed the amount recommended by the National Cholesterol Education Program, because while alcohol has been given health attributes, those health attributes only occur at 'moderate' intake levels. Exceeding those levels actually increases your cardiovascular disease risk factors.Originally posted by shericeI am having company sat and my boyfriend is buying micholob ultra....i am in rung three...can I have two or three?
1 serving for men = 2 drinks
1 serving for women = 1 drink
1 drink = Beer 12 fluid oz OR Hard liquor 1 fluid oz OR Wine 4 fluid oz
And yes, I know people will tell you that they drink way more than that daily and they don't have any problems with heart disease, etc. etc. etc. or with their weight loss.
OWL is very individual so any OWL food is a 'your mileage may vary' thing.~Megs~

Re: Low carb beer....
Another thing to consider before you drink alcohol (whichever rung of OWL you are on) is that our bodies will utilise the alcohol as 'fuel' before using any carbs/fat/protein we eat, so you will probably experience a 'suspension' of weightloss after drinking it.
Also if you are using the ketosticks to gauge whether you are in ketosis they will register the alcohol byproduct (acetone I think) the same as they register ketones, so you will probably appear to be in ketosis although you are not!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Low carb beer....
I would make sure to eat healthy balanced meals...another thing that hasn't been mentioned is that your tolerance will be lower, and you might be satisfied (or drunk!) after 1 beer.
My advice is, if you're going to drink, just have ONE. You might be surprised to find that one is completely satisfying, where as in the past, you would have had 4 or 5. See how you feel, how your body reacts--a couple weeks ago I had ONE whisky and soda, and I was hungover the next day. I'm a girl that could drink about 13 shots and feel great the day after...so my tolerance disappeared, so did my body's ability to "handle" the alcohol...my poor body was in shock because all I've been drinking for 4 months is water.
I would watch your carbs, but don't intentionally starve yourself of them. Eat your veggies, eat balanced foods, and have ONE beer--you'll regret having more than that if your body doesn't handle it well.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Low carb beer....
Honestly I was pretty buzzed from one beer...I ended up drinking almost five and getting pretty drunk off that and pretty
sick! So I went to bed and my stomach was cramping a little and a little hard and bloated...but today I feel a little better....no weight gain or inches gained and no real bloating....but needless to say I don't really want to drink again for a looooong time hehe....I am glad I allowed myself to do it, because I do have to make this a wol...and I don't want to feel sooo deprived that I binge later on....so now I know what it feels like and I am done.....so overall I am ok with what happened....
Thanks for all your feedback everyone!
