I went thru them all, I didn't have much to lose, about 30 lbs, but my weight stalled for so long I was able to do it. It took me about 10.5 months to get to goal. what is hard is I found is finding your ccll when you are stalled... i would add a food group, then remove it seeing if my weight loss would continue. I even went back to induction for a couple of week sjust to make sure that it was none of the foods that I had added that was causing my stall. it wasn't.

I managed to reach goal by eating 6 of the 9 rungs on a regular basis. The only ones I really don't eat are legumes, starchy veggies and 'other' fruits (i do have an apple occaisionally though). Not because they caused me issues, only because they're not on my list of favourite foods. I was very lucky on not having any stalling issues with foods. The only real issue I had was with portion control with nuts/peanut butter. I have to be very careful with them I don't have much self control.

Everyones experience with OWL is going to be very different. It takes alot of patience and experimentation. In the end it is worth it.

I think OWL is very important in finding food tolerances and issues (like mine with nuts). Since this is a lifetime woe, it's good to konw what foods you can have, and which you can't even if you don't plan on making them part of your regular diet.

I just wish people weren't so afraid of OWL I saw my best losses in OWL.

      sadie147--thanks for those posts!

I'm on rung 6, still haven't found my CCLL, and felt like I had messed up because I hadn't found mine yet. My order of business for February and on is to try to find my CCLL. Do you think I should keep my carbs around 40 or below and move up through all the rungs (just to add a bit more variety, there isn't really much I'm missing. I just want to add some more fruit, actually.) and after I've added the rungs, THEN try to find my CCLL? I've got at least 30 more lb. to lose. Or would you suggest staying on my current rung and finding it, then move up?

Thanks for all the grat posts!
I know maintenance isn't an easy thing. Juste reading the cahpter in the book convinced me in that. Still would love to be there

One thing I haven't understood yet, is that you're supposed to have 2 (or more?) CCLL levels? How can I tell that?
If I start adding foods and carbs and reach a certain point where I don't lose any more, that's my CCLL. So I stay under that to keep losing. Until I'm almost done losing and I start searching for carb level for maintenace. What happens next? Where does the "new" CCLL happen?
