  • Sorry...another OWL question

I am sure this has been answered numerous times, but I am a little confused.
Wrung #1: Go up to 25 gr carbs per day of Induction vegs. If it is a "new" veg, only eat 5 additional carbs, 3x per week?
Wrung #2: Dairy - This is a new food altogether. so eat only 5 gr. of dairy, 3x per week? And still eat 25 gr of vegs also?

When you get to say Wrung#6 Legumes, if you have not had any weight gain are you able to eat 25 gr. of dairy without vegs.? Or do you still have to eat vegs no matter what?

Yes, that is correct. If its a veggie you had during induction, you can have that veggie every day as part of your 25 net carbs. If its a veggie you didn't eat during your induction, only eat it 3 x that week to see if it causes you any problems (cravings, hunger, weight gain/bloat)

    Yes, that's right.

YOu still need the veggies for FIBER and the vitamins and nutrients they provide. Veggies actually will become the basis for your eating program.

Thanks. One last thing. If all is well and I am up to level 6 and can eat 40 carbs per day, does that mean that I still can only have about 5 carbs of Level 2 (Dairy)? Even though each level has been "conquered", you still can only have 5carbs of that level?

No, you can have more then 5 grams of any food as long as it doesn't cause you problems.

At minimum you need to maintain the 3 cups of veggies every day. More is better, higher carb counts means higher fiber, higher nutrients (usually--veggies like jicama, spinach, greens, broccoli, cabbage, etc.) Anyway, you move up and add 5 net grams of ricotta cheese. You eat that food 3 x per week and it doesn't cause you issues. You like dairy, so the next week you want to continue eating your ricotta PLUS you want to add yogurt, so you have 5 net grams of carb worth of yogurt 3 x per week, BUT you could have the ricotta every day. So now you're up to 20 (induction level), +5 for the veggie rung is 25, +5 for the ricotta = 30, +5 for the yogurt = 35. The next week you could add another serving of dairy for 40 net grams. HOWEVER, let me caution you that this much cheese and dairy could potentially cause constipation issues. So, I would advise that you eat a LOT of HIGH FIBER veggies, to compensate.

What I do, however, is I generally eat 30-35 net carbs of veggies and switch out 5-10 net grams of higher rung stuff such as one day I'll have dairy, another day I might have berries, or nuts, and another day I'll have legumes.

This stuff confuses me. I'm going to hang around on the veggie rung for a little while!
