  • Do I stay?....Or do I go???

    I have been on an Atkins for 30 days, and have been doing the extended induction. I lost 20 pds in the first 20 days, but haven't lost anything since then. Very happy with the results so far. Have not cheated , even once. These boards have been a big motivator for me!! I'm thinking maybe I should move to OWL now?, start adding more veggies? Maybe I'll start losing again? Read everything about Post Induction Stall, have starting exercising 3X a week, and drinking ample amounts of water. I am approx 30 pds away from goal. Advice please!!
    P.S, If I do move to the " Veggie rung " ? Can I have steamed green beans?

    My vote is that you move to OWL. You needn't be afraid of OWL... you still continue losing and many people lose more, especially on rung one. You can spend quite a bit of time there, just adding more veggies, if you want.

    Yessss! You can certainly have steamed green beans. If I remember rightly green beans were on the acceptable induction list, weren't they? I love 'em!

    Your weight loss will probably pick up again especially as you started exercising (although you might have a temporary halt in downward scale movement due to muscle building). Have you tried measureing? That's a far more reliable guage of weight loss than the scales.

    Seems to me you're doing very well indeed... splendidly in fact...but if you're worried, you could always try posting a few menus in the "Review my menu" section. Sometimes it's something quite small that needs tweaking for weight loss to start up again.

      Should you move on to OWL and add more veggies? My vote is yes! This week, I have taken part in the Veggie Challenge. I didn't know if I could handle this challenge at first, because prior to Atkins the only vegetable I ever ate was french fries and since I am in OWL, the challenge was for me to eat between 17 and 20g net veggie carbs per day. (net carbs is carbs minus fiber) This is a lot of veggies compared to what I was already eating in OWL. Since I wasn't sure if I could commit to that amount, I "practiced" for a few days before signing up. During those few practice days, I lost 2 pounds. This is now the 7th day of the actual challenge, and I have lost 3 more pounds. Prior to this, I was only losing a pound a week. This challenge opened my eyes to the wonderful world of veggies, and I am going to continue striving to meet the 17g net veggie carb minimum total per day. I am thrilled with the results. So I say... give it a try!

      Also, you can eat green beans during Induction. (they are called "string beans" in the induction list)

      Keep us posted on what you decide to do and how it goes.

        Same here. Im moving to OWL too. Lord knows i have a lot of weight to lose..and could stay on extended induction but i need more variety of veggies! Not to mention the only thing i have been craving desperately is NUTS. Go figure.
        I'll try to stay with rung 1 as long as possible..hoping that will get the weight loss moving again. I figure its better to move on than risk cheating and blowing it all.

        I would think especially since u only have 30 lbs to go..theres no reason at all why u shouldnt be moving on to OWL. Good luck to u!!

          I would move up! I stayed on extended induction when I did Atkins before I had my 3rd child and it was hard. I am starting my fourth week today and am moving on to Dairy now!! Good luck, and you are doing GREAT!
