  • I'm jumping on the OWL wagon!

Hey all! After careful consideration and reading and re-reading all the stickies and chapter 14 of my DANDR I've finally decided to take the plunge and join all of you OWL land! I'm really excited at the prospect of being able to eat a wider variety of foods.

I completed a 2 week completley legal induction and lost 11 pounds. I then did extended induction for another week and lost another 3 pounds for a grand total of 14 pounds lost in three weeks. Yipee!

My last go around with this WOE I stayed on extended induction for about 2 months and I think that had something to do with my straying. I was sooooo bored with the food choices and hadn't educated myself properly.

SO...... Im glad to be here, very excited and looking forward to the berry rung

    See you all around!

OOOHHH! Welcome to OWL! You are going to love it. This is a great decision....the food choices just get better and better. I'm on rung 5 and absolutely love OWL.

Congrats on the weightloss so far! Doesn't it feel great? Once I moved into OWL, my cravings went out the window. Sometimes I have a hard time around mexican food (my favorite), but other than that, people could eat almost anything around me and I really wouldn't care.

Best of luck, keep us posted!

      I Love OWL!!!

OK, I just had to get that out there! Seriously, you will NEVER EVER feel deprived if you move up the rungs of OWL. I never thought that eating another serving of veggies would be exciting, but it truly is. You can move as slowly as you want, though it's suggested you spend at least 2 weeks on each rung. I spent about 2 weeks on each lower rung, and as I worked up to the higher rungs, I'd spend a month or so on each one. It's a matter of personal preference. I think it's best to spend MORE time, rather than LESS, so you can really pay attention to how your body reacts to certain foods.

The best part of OWL is that as you climb higher, you can really tailor the program to suit your needs. For example, I prefer to eat induction veggies (usually 4-5 servings) and skip the starchy veggies, so I can have strawberries at breakfast and an apple as a snack. Or if I'm eating a piece of whole grain bread, I'll skip the apple and have melon instead. There is a lot of responsibility of doing OWL properly, but the freedom is so enjoyable! I can eat in ANY restaurant, and I can travel without fearing starvation or a cheat.

So kudos to you for making such a healthy and smart decision! Keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for the input Julie. I think I will stay on each of the lower rungs for two weeks, I dont want to rush anything! I'm slowly getting closer to the berry rung!!!!!!
