  • Uh oh

    So I went ahead and moved up to rung 2 of OWL today. I ate 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, with my lunch (4oz pork, 2 cups salad). About one hour later I got the runs really badly. A while ago now, I was at my dads for dinner and they had a fruit platter out. I had 3 or 4 strawberries (though I wasn't on the berry rung, I did count the carbs in them to make sure I didn't go over my limit for that day)....anyway, after that I had really bad stomach cramps and felt as if I was going to have the runs. It seems every time I add back a food, it severely upsets my stomach. Is this normal? If it is, it sucks!

    You seem to notice on OWL that your body has intolerances to some food, i've just found that im allergic to strawberries, its not fun!!

    However when i spoke to my doctor about it he said if you add the things very gradually, leave it a few days before you try again your body can learn to accept them. If it doesnt change, then you may of found one of your intolerances!

      Yeah, I'm going to wait 2 more days to try cottage cheese again (since I'm off again in 2 days, wouldn't want this to happen at work!). Next week I was going to try yogurt and see how that goes.

        I had that happen to me before and found that I just needed some more fiber and everything was ok.

          I had a similar reaction to yogurt--I ate it and got an upset stomach and intestinal gurgling. Nothing painful, just embarassing. The second time I ate it, I had the same thing, but to a lesser effect. The third time I ate it, I was fine.

          If a food causes intense pain, I will try it only once more (or depending on the pain, never again) and if it hurts again, I don't eat it in the future.
